R…Rajkumar movie review: Shahid Kapoor’s Dhanshoo Action Failed To Save Movie

R…Rajkumar movie review: Shahid Kapoor’s Dhanshoo Action Failed To Save Movie
Shahid Kapoor tries to be Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan at the same time and falls miles behind. You take a bowl and fill it with parts of Wanted, Chennai Express and numerous Telugu movies – what you get is mundane, no-brainer potboiler of a movie called R…Rajkumar

Rating: 2.5 out of 5

If your dabbawala gave you the same curry every day of the week, how would you feel? Definitely after a few days, you would get annoyed at the mundane monotonousness in your life. This is exactly the case with most Bollywood filmmakers nowadays. Why don’t they understand that if you serve the same old whiskey in a new bottle it does not become new.

This week’s offering R…Rajkumar is nothing different. In fact, it could be any of the many films that you have already seen. The boy-meets-girl-fights-with-villain of Chennai Express and the boy-joins-villain-and-becomes-the-informer of Wanted are still fresh in our minds. Then why combine the two and offer another one? Also, the wind farms of Andhra Pradesh have been shown a zillion times in Telugu movies, so why pick that same location for a Bollywood film?

To be honest, the biggest put off in the movie is the lack of a surprise element. The only time you are surprised is when Mukul Dev comes up and discloses his friendship with Shahid. Another big stumble is the comedy. The director has tried every trick in his book to tickle funny bones, but falls flat on his face. The unpersuasive, often clumsy and confused comedy scenes make your viewing even more difficult. The comedy sequences have old jokes and various other pathetic attempts that do not tickle you even a little bit.

Illogical action sequences and stunts that defy all rules of physics at times that make you wonder if the walls of your house are actually made of bricks and stones or not. In a hurry to make movies which earn more than Rs 100 crore, Prabhu Dheva has lost his touch. He has come out with the second no-brainer of the year after Ramaiya Vastavaiya. Like his past movies, this one too is laden with pinches of southern spices. The story is based in a small village where two drugs mafias, Sonu Sood and Ashish Vidyarthi are fighting with each other to be the sole kingpin of an opium business. Rajkumar (Shahid Kapoor), who works for Sonu Sood and falls in love with Ashish Vidyarthi’s niece, has so much strength that he can single-handedly beat the pulp out of 100 goons at a time.

Although a good thing about the movie is that Shahid is back to acting. The actor displays the same intensity as he did in Kaminey and the same boyish charm he did in Jab We Met. Sonu Sood is good as he tried bettering his Dabangg act but did not have much scope. Still he did well enough to make other writer-directors think of him the very instance they write the character of a villain. Sonakshi Sinha’s character could have been portrayed by any background dancer in any of the songs and Shahid is actually not wrong when he says  tera weight dekha hai. You really feel that yes, he is adjusting. It’s time she starts experimenting with new roles as she has been constantly doing the same role over and over again. And a tip, Sona, please join a gym.

The music of the film is good and might be on the charts for sometime but there are way too many songs. Why don’t the directors understand that if they want to put in five songs each of five minute they might as well make a separate music video and spare the viewer of an extra half hour. And who the heck has an item number on their wedding day?

If you are a die-hard fan of south movies or a bigger fan of their no-brainer potboiler Hindi remakes, then do go for this movie and have a gala time. For the rest, wait for the DVD or better still watch it, free of cost, when it comes on TV.

First Trailer Of Akshay Kumar’s "BOSS" Is Out - Mr. Khiladi Back In Action!

The brilliant trailer of Boss is out! With flawless action and a few fantastic dialogues, the trailer is exciting. Starring Akshay Kumar in the titular role of Boss, the film also stars Aditi Rao Hydari, Ronit Roy, Mithun Chakraborty and Danny Denzongpa. Scheduled to release on 16th October, it is directed by Anthony D'Souza.

When the teaser of Boss released, it reminded you another Akshay Kumar flick Khiladi 786 that was overtly and unanimously deemed moronic. However, the trailer comes across a remarkably better than what was expected of it. Akshay Kumar revisits the screens after Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai D obaara!, And that itself is such a respite. He is so brilliant in the roles that are closer to his niche and Boss essays exactly the same.

Maintaining a Haryanvi twang all through, as expected there is baffling and brutal action right at the outset. Hinting at regressive humors too, in places, overall it is quite an impressionable trailer that surely fits in amongst the likes of his previous films like Rowdy Rathore. Expect ground breaking, gravity defying action that would even put Superman to shame, but nevertheless, Indian audiences quite love the taste of such films.

Watch: BOSS Official HD Trailer|Akshay Kumar|BOSS 2013

Perhaps one of the main reasons, why Boss has managed to rank itself above its predecessors is because of Ronit Roy. The actor with his robust demeanor man ages to add a dash of novelty to the film. Looking similar to his despotic, authoritative self from Vikramaditya Motwane's Udaan, this time too he is a commercialized variation of the same.

The film's supporting cast looks great. Danny Denzongpa is back on screens after a long spell, and Mithun Chakraborty too renders thickness to the plot.

Most awe-striking in the trailer was Aditi Rao Hydari who looks ravishing in a bikini. It was quite a surprise to realize that she hasn't been placed romantically opposite Akshay, but rather paired with Shiv Pandit who plays Akshay's brother in the film. Adding a sprinkle off sizzling charisma, Aditi's presence is definitely soothing to the eyes.

Director Anthony D'Souza has managed to dish out a sleek trailer with neat thundering action that works to the advantage of the film. It is energetic and abundant in arresting action, and Akshay Kumar's star value is a mere additional forte for the film! I am surely gonna keep calm and wait for the Boss, will you?

Shahrukh Khan and wife Gauri Khan became parents to a baby boy, whom they have named AbRam! AbRam was born on May 27 at Masrani Hospital and was then taken to Nanavati and Breach Candy Hospital as he was a premature baby, before he was brought home. SRK made the happy announcement through a statement thereby clarifying all the controversies about the new born.

“Amidst all the noise that has been going around, the sweetest is the one made by our newborn baby, AbRam. He was born prematurely by several months but has finally come home. Gauri and our whole family have been dealing with his health issues for quite some time now. As a family our silence on this subject has been because of the personal nature of emotional strife that we have been going through due to his health,” said SRK in his statement. Making Of Chennai Express One Two Three Four Song - Shahrukh Khan and Priyamani Try To Perfect The Foot-Tapping!

To make this rocking item number visually appealing, King Khan and the South hottie try to put their best foot forward and match up to the fast beats, and Rohit Shetty helps them achieve that!

Rohit Shetty’s much anticipated romcom, Chennai Express featuring Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone is releasing this Eid that is August 8. Probably for the first time, Rohit has incorporated a dhinchak tapori dance number in his film, considering the commercial aspects, maybe. In the making of this explosive dance number One two three four, the choreographer tells Rahul aka SRK to dance better and match steps with the fast beats (despite his shoulder injury). And the trio – Shahrukh, Deepika and Rohit are seen having loads of masti.

So far we’ve only heard of Rohit being a taskmaster on the sets but the video gives a very different story. Look how he’s enjoying playing pranks on his unit members including the cameraman standing next to Shahrukh and Dippy. From what we see, SRK is a thorough entertainer and charms people off the sets too. He’s seen joking and giggling with his co-star Priyamani as they rehearse the foot-tapping number. Watch the makers and actors of Chennai Express shoot for the high-energy song!

Krrish 3 First Look Exposed - Watch Video!

The first look of Hrithik Roshan-Priyanka Chopra’s superhero flick has just been released

While the first trailer of Rakesh Roshan’s ambitious superhero flick Krrish 3 starring Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Kangna Ranaut and Vivek Oberoi will come out with Chennai Express on August 8, the makers have just released the first look of the film.

While Koi Mil Gaya didn’t really have a logo, Krrish showed Hrithik’s face alongside the title. This time around it’s a slick Krrish 3 title, with ominous drum music in the background. Krrish 3 is slated to release on November 3, 2013, and Hrithik and daddy Rakesh have planned a long and elaborate promotional campaign leading up to the release. Meanwhile, watch the video and tell us if you like the first poster.

'Chennai Express' Will Release With 'Krrish 3' Trailer - Read!

Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s Chennai Express is set to pull in crowds this Eid, and hoping to cash in on the craze is Hrithik Roshan.

Rakesh Roshan, director-producer of the upcoming superhero film Krrish 3, starring Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra, plans to release the theatrical trailer of the film along with Chennai Express on August 8.

“Launching the trailer with a big film guarantees many eyeballs. I am going to talk to Shah Rukh or UTV about the same,” Rakesh Roshan said in a statement.

Krrish 3 is set to release on Diwali. The film has Hrithik reprising the role of the titular superhero. Priyanka Chopra plays his love interest. The main villain is played by Vivek Oberoi while Kangna Ranaut will be seen in a pivotal role.

The film takes forward the story of the previous two films Koi Mil Gaya and Krrish.

Interestingly, Rakesh Roshan has decided to release Krrish 3 on November 3, which is a Sunday rather than Friday. Nov 3 is also Diwali, and Roshan senior says it’s an auspicious day for release.

Hrithik Roshan will reportedly start promoting the film from the first week of October and will devote himself to promotions for an entire month during which he’s likely to travel to Canada, Britain and the US as well.

Who Confess To Being 40-Plus, Like Shahrukh Khan Does?

The Bollywood King discloses his real age….well, almost….onscreen in the promo of Chennai Express. So will his peers – frenemies? – in B-town follow his example?

In the Chennai Express trailer, the moment Shahrukh Khan told us his age, we leaped out of our seats in utter astonishment. He called himself a 40-year-old in the film – which may not be very close to 47, his real age, but it is way better than his claiming to an energetic boy of 25! While SRK has done roles that suit his chronological age (case in point: Main Hoon Naa, Chak De! India, et al), there are also films in which he has tried to step into the shoes of a twenty-something (remember Jab Tak Hai Jaan ?) and made an absolute fool of himself. The wrinkles of experience didn’t exactly complement his youthful hippety-hoppety behaviour in that film and Anushka Sharma, who is genuinely 25, and Katrina Kaif, who is 29, were studies in great contrast.

But there’s no dearth of actors who take great pride in looking young, display a smug look and believe that they will pass muster even as a 20–year-old lad. Let’s see who falls into this complacent category…

Chennai Express : Most Awaited Trailer Of This Season Is Out - Videos

The most awaited trailer of this season is out. And nobody can miss this adventurous train journey...

For quite some time, we have only been witnessing the on the sets visuals of Rohit Shetty’s much anticipated romcom, but now we present the theatrical trailer of the film. Shahrukh Khan introduces himself as 40-year-old Rahul (yes, yet again!) who boards Chennai Express. He witnesses an incident wherein some South Indian local goons kick the TC (Ticket Checker) out of the moving train. Enter Deepika Padukone, who threatens the ‘witness’ Rahul to come to Chennai; but the gal has an ulterior motive as she informs Rahul that her father is a ‘respected’ don in the city.

The story, as suspected, promises to be an adventurous ride – how Shahrukh bumps into Deepika on his train journey and the series of mishaps, escapade and fun thereafter. The highlight of the trailer is when King Khan tells Deepika – jab se meri life mein aayi ho, my life sucks, to which she replies – same here! Rohit Shetty’s stamp on the film is clearly visible as we haven’t seen Shahrukh and Deepika in this avatar ever before. Though we love Dips’ South Indian accent, we doubt if the voice is actually hers. From the looks of it, Chennai Express is all set to bring the Bollywood baadshah his lost glory back. Take a look at the trailer and tell us what you think.

P.S: We love the title track sung by SP Balasubramaniam!

Shahrukh Khan Performs Raw & Real Stunts Like Arch-Rivals Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn In Chennai Express

In Rohit Shetty’s upcoming romcom, SRK shoots action sequences despite shoulder injury...
It’s been quite a long time since we have seen Shahrukh Khan taking on the bad guys with those blood-red revengeful eyes and powerful dialogue baazi. It’s hard to recollect SRK’s last action-packed role; the films that we remember and love especially because of Shahrukh performing some hard-core action and hand-to-hand combat scenes date way back to the days of Karan Arjun, Koyla, Baazigar and Darr.

And looks like SRK is back with the genre with Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express! Though Shetty is known for incorporating his own style of over-the-top yet entertaining action sequences, we are told King Khan has done some raw and real action scenes this time around. Take a look at the on the sets pictures and you’ll know what exactly we mean! Shahrukh in a blood soaked shirt and ganji laughing out loud with a unit member in the midst of rehearsals, driving an open orange coloured jeep and as per Rohit’s instructions flying mid air trying to stop the moving jeep…and then the trio including Deepika Padukone posing with the unit members!

Well, Chennai Express promises to bring back Shahrukh in a raw action streak avatar – something that we have been used to seeing his competitors do – especially Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn in films like Wanted, Dabangg, and Golmaal series and walking away with all the whistles, claps and accolades. SRK might be coming back into this mode after years, and even if it is only for a handful of scenes, we are happy and quite surprised to see the Baadshah perform all those stunts with the same guts and gusto despite his shoulder injury!
