Katy Perry Admits "I Love Comedians"; Still Loves Funnyman Despite Russell Brand Split

Russell Brand hasn’t stopped Katy Perry from loving comedy genius then.

The singer gushed that she loves funny people so much that she wishes to blend them into her work more.

The 28-year-old star has a busy schedule but has a desire to appear on more comedy sketch shows.

"I wish I could do some comedy sketches because I love being around comedians, I love the air, I love the kind of craziness that's going on upstairs, but I have to go all over the world and I'm only one person," she admitted on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.

"I'm not like in a band or in a girl group, so I have to kind of delegate my time very carefully. I'm like picking out the costumes for the dancers, writing the lyrics and making sure the lights are right.".

Former Saturday Night Live stars Amy Poehler, Tina Fey and Kristen Wiig are just some of her idols in the field. She loves that they don’t take themselves too seriously.

"I just love self-deprecating women who can kind of make fun of themselves and it's not all about them and their nice lighting," she commented.

"They don't have to be chic in every shot. They can kind of laugh at themselves."

Katy’s third album Prism is currently her work focus and she explained it’s a tad different to her usual stuff. Compared to 2010's Teenage Dream, she opens up more.

"I think the difference between [Teenage Dream] and this next one is it's kind of vulnerable and raw and stripped down," she shared.

"It's an evolution, it's three years later and a bit more grown-up, but still having lots of fun. I mean, look, I'm in pigtails. I'm not that grown up!"

John Mayer Proposes To Katy Perry? Singer 'Will Do Whatever It Takes To Prove They Should Marry'

Sources Say "John Will Do Anything For Katy Perry"

Sources Say "John Will Do Anything For Katy Perry"

Katy Perry and John Mayer may have split previously, but according to new reports, John has now allegedly vowed "not to run away" from his feelings for the California Girl star ever again and may have even popped the question recently!

The singer/songwriter may have developed a womaniser reputation over the years, previously dating the likes of Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston, but Mayer is now ready to settle down, sources say.

“John won’t run from Katy again,” a source told Grazia magazine, adding: “He knows his bad-boy reputation and what happened with Russell hurt Katy, and he’ll do whatever it takes to show he’s the one she should marry.”

Despite their relationship being on/off since last year, the pair now seem happier than ever and have even recorded a duet together titled Who You Love, for John's new album.

The showbiz couple's romance is believed to be getting so serious that John apparently proposed last week, and followed tradition by asking Katy’s parents for their permission before he popped the question.

However, the brunette reportedly "doesn’t feel ready" for such a big commitment: “John’s proposal really unnerved Katy. Even though they have discussed it, she thought it was too soon. John was gutted,” an insider revealed.

“Katy loves John, but doesn’t feel she has had enough healing time since her divorce. She told him she just needed a bit more time to feel whole in herself again.”

Perry wed comedian Russell Brand back in 2010, but filed for divorce just 14 months later.

Russell Brand Jokes About Marriage & Sex Life With Katy Perry

At a recent warm-up gig at London's SoHo Theatre, the British funnyman reportedly made a joke about the former couple's bedroom behavior, telling the audience that having sex as a married man no different than being a celibate monk.

Never one to let his well-publicised personal life go by without a few jibes, the comic's pre-tour warm-up show, held last week (July 31) in London, was full of sexual anecdotes and blue humour, and he didn't hold back when it was time to discuss his married life either, freely discussing his bedroom activities with Katy Perry.

Well, it wasn't so much the scale of his and Perry's sexual misadventures that was being discussed, more Brands' yearning for sexual freedom after committing himself to just one woman. The comic compared his monogamous lifestyle to that of a monk living in celibacy, and joked that when he was getting intimate with the beautiful Ms Perry, her would tell himself to "think of anyone else," throughout the love-making.

The comic said, as quoted by Press Party, "When you're a monk, you're not allowed to have sex with anyone. When you're married, it's one person. That's one more than a monk. It's not that different," going on to say, "I'd be having sex thinking, 'think of anyone, anyone else.'"

His comments may have had the audience laughing, but one person who hasn't find Brand's new material particularly funny is his ex-wife Perry. The singer recently told of her humiliation at being the butt of some of his new jokes, also revealing that he revealed his desire to end their marriage via a text message sent on New Years Eve 2011. She told US Vogue last month; "(He was) hysterical in some ways. Until he started making jokes about me and he didn't know I was in the audience, because I had come to surprise him at one of his shows. So. Hysterical to a point."

The singer's break-up with Brand and her efforts to make the marriage work were documented in her film Katy Perry: Part Of Me, and she went on to discuss Brand's lack of involvement in the film in the interview. She added, "I have to claim my own responsibility in things (that led to the marriage breakdown). I do admit that I was on the road a lot. Although I invited him time and time again, and I tried to come home as much as I possibly could. You saw that in the movie... That wasn't edited to leave footage (of Brand) out - there wasn't any footage of him."
