Its Confirms: Keith Urban Returning To 'American Idol'

Country singer Keith Urban will be back behind the judging table on American Idol.

"Keith is going to return to the show," Fox entertainment chief Kevin Reilly told reporters Thursday at the Television Critics Association press tour. "The fans really liked him. Keith is a really funny guy."

There has been speculation about former Idol judge Jennifer Lopez — who was on from 2011-12 — possibly returning to the 13th season of Fox's singing competition series.

While Reilly only would confirm Urban's return to Idol, he said that "most of the thing is true," with regard to Lopez's potential return. "There have been discussions, but there is no deal," Reilly said. 

He also said that the new judging panel will "refocus our attention" on the contestants who are competing on Idol, instead of being heavily centered on the judges. Reilly admitted that the marketing efforts may have played a part in skewing public perception and attention.

"It really became too much about the judges," he conceded. "We want some comfortable judges to make it comfortable to view."

Reilly hinted that the current format may be tweaked slightly for the upcoming cycle. "[We] will tinker with the format," he said.

It is believed that Jennifer Hudson is finalizing a deal to become an Idol judge, with names like Will.i.am and Dr. Luke also being bandied about.

In late May, season 12 judges Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and veteran Randy Jackson announced their departures from Idol. Ratings for the most recent cycle were down more than 20 percent.

Nicki Minaj Responds to DJ Khaled Marriage Proposal

DJ Khaled put his heart on the line on Thursday when he recorded a marriage proposal to Nicki Minaj on MTV, but rumors are swirling that Nicki has responded with a restraining order.

The rumors have not been confirmed, but new details emerging about Nicki and DJ Khaled’s relationship suggests that the broadcast proposal isn’t actually as sweet as it may have seemed at first.

Rihanna may be able to get guys to fight over her, but nobody seems to make the guys fall in love quite like the curvy hip-hop Barbie.

“Nicki Minaj, I’m at MTV, I’m going to be honest with you; I love you. I like you, I want you, I want you to be mine,” the 37-year-old confessed on the awkward video. “Only reason I’m not telling you this face to face is because I understand that you’re busy.”

Of course, that excuse isn’t valid considering that the two have been working on several projects together recently, which means he had more than enough opportunities to confess his love in person.

The “All I Do Is Win” producer went on to explain to the booty-shaking, thong-flaunting “Super Bass” rapper that she needs a man like him in her life.

“I feel like you need a man like me in your life… we got the same symptoms, we’re both suffering from success,” he continues

Wait… did he say, “suffering from success?” As in the title of his upcoming album, “Suffering From Success”?

This entire proposal could possibly be one embarrassing publicity stunt or the most shameless album plug the hip- hop community has ever seen.

Either way, the proposal wasn’t done there. He predicted that Nicki’s answer wouldn’t be “yes” right away, so he let the former “American Idol” judge know that he understands if she has to take time to think about it.

“You gotta take your time to think about it? I understand,” he said. “But I know I have to be here today to let you know how serious I am and how serious this is to me.”

At the end of the video, he finally popped the question while opening up a small box to reveal a $500,000 engagement ring.

So here is where things get really awkward.

Reports are being released that the “High School” rapper filed a restraining order in New York against her YMCMB label mate and that this isn’t the first time he has awkwardly confessed his love for her.

These rumors have not been confirmed, but sources close to the rapper-turned-pop star say that DJ Khaled has also sent her flowers and other gifts in the past, in addition to randomly popping up at her shows across the country.

Whether you’re a fan of the hefty DJ or not, you can’t help but hope that Nicki didn’t break the man’s heart with a restraining order.

She has yet to respond to the rumors or marriage proposal publicly, but she did admit she’s in the mood for love via Twitter.

Nicki posted a picture to her Twitter and Instagram with a pink tank top that read “Love” before posting the caption, “It’s all u need.”

Apparently DJ Khaled needs it a little more than others.
