Aditya Roy Kapur Reveals School Time Truth; He Failed Twice In 6th And 11th Standard!

Fresh after the success of his recently released Aashiqui 2 and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, the good looking lad with a curly mop of hair had a fun chat with trade expert Komal Nahta!

Aditya Roy Kapur is riding a wave of success. After getting rave reviews for his performance in Mohit Suri’s Aashiqui 2, the 27-year-old charmed audiences with his meaty role in the Ranbir Kapoor-Deepika Padukone starrer Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. How did the young lad manage to bag two good projects back-to-back? “I was offered YJHD before Aashiqui 2. In fact, we had completed two schedules of YJHD when I signed Aashiqui 2. I knew Ayan socially and he thought I would fit the role well, so I went and met them, loved it and signed the movie. While I was shooting for YJHD in Rajasthan is when I got a call for Aashiqui 2 and signed on,” said Aditya in a recent conversation with Komal Nahta on ETC Bollywood Business.

Success in Bollywood means instant recognition. How does young dude handle the new-found stardom? “Two hits does not mean you are a star, yaar! It takes a lot more to be a star. But definitely people know me more now. I get noticed everywhere I go so yeah – a lot of attention from people,” replied Aditya.

A successful VJ and now a budding star, Aditya charms ladies with his witty one-liners and his ability to think on his feet. But very few know that he was not a good student and flunked in the 6th standard and repeated this glorious feat again in the 11th standard. “I was a really bad student so I failed! Again I failed in the 11th standard. But I didn’t have to repeat the year – I just shifted schools,” concluded the star with a giggle.

Ranbir Kapoor Wants To Learn Good Punjabi For Besharam!

The Dashing actor Ranbir Kapoor has hired a tutor to improve his Punjabi diction for the Abhinav Kashyap film.

Ranbir Kapoor, who is on cloud nine after the success of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (YJHD), is leaving no stone unturned to give his best in Besharam. The Bollywood heartthrob is polishing his Punjabi diction for the comedy.

“They are shooting a lot in Chandigarh, so Ranbir has been learning the language. It is crucial for his character, so a tutor has been hired. He’s been practicing to speak like the locals there – in terms of usage of words and their pronunciations,” said a source.

Directed by Abhinav Kashyap, the movie also features Ranbir’s parents – actors Neetu Singh and Rishi Kapoor – along with Pallavi Sharda. Besharam is set for an October 2 release.

“Since YJHD has released and become a huge success, he’s relaxed and at ease. Besharam will be his most massy film so far, and it’ll have him sharing screen space with his parents for the first time. Even when the film’s poster was released, it generated a lot of curiosity,” the source added.

Everyone Want Deepika Padukone In Their Next!

The leggy lass is in demand and spoilt for choice as three ace filmmakers are vying to cast her in their movies.

After the overwhelming success of blockbuster "Yeh Jawaani Hai Hai Deewani" ex-lovers Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone are set to reunite for director Intiaz Ali's next film.

If reports are to be believed, Imtiaz is said to have roped in Deepika Padukone as the female lead opposite Ranbir in his untitled project.

It is said that the "Rockstar" director was scouting for an apt heroine for the Kapoor lad and had even considered Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt. In the end, Ranbir and Deepika's fabulous on-screen chemistry in "YJHD" won over all other choices.

"They haven't put things on paper yet, but after YJHD, Imtiaz is sure about Deepika," a source revealed to Hindustan Times,

"What went in Deepika's favour is her chemistry with Ranbir in YJHD."

"Right now, none of them want to go on record, since a number of actors are vying for the part. But internally, the makers have decided on Deepika. Ranbir has also been sounded off about the same," the insider added.

The shooting of the film is expected to start from early 2014 since, "By that time, the hype over YJHD would be over," and "Imtiaz can start his film on a new note," said the source.

Meanwhile, luck seems to be on Deepika's side as she has been cast as the leading lady in the "Dostana" sequel, putting rest to the rumours of Katrina Kaif being signed for the same.

However, Dippy is said to be in a great dilemma since the Karan Johar film collides with Mani Ratnam's love story, for which she was approached recently. Also both the films are set to go on floors at same time of the year.

"Now, Deepika has to choose between Karan Johar and Mani Ratnam. It is going to be a difficult decision. As it is, she has other assignments," a source told The Times of India.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani Movie Review: Ranbir Kapoor’s Charm & Deepika Padukone’s Awesome Screen Presence Is A Lethal Combo!

Ayan Mukerji’s take on four friends and their lives may not be the best portrayal of friendship and love, but it’s not the ‘we slam it then and there’ kinda film either...

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani starts with Ranbir Kapoor shaking his leg energetically with Madhuri Dixit to the beats of the fast paced Ghagra number. And the best quality about the Kapoor kid is that he doesn’t shy away from indulging in goofy antics onscreen. And that adds to the already ‘fixed deep into his system’ charm.

Deepika Padukone is raising her bar with every film. She portrays a geek in this one, the kind of girl every guy doesn’t simply flirt with but falls in love with too, as Ranbir Kapoor says in his romantic baritone in one of the scenes. And this studious chick is the typical and stylish Dharma Production nerd who looks good in her bespectacled avatar with blow-dried hair and feminine outfits. She’s like a Hindi film hero – who along with knowing the lyrics of Chumma Chumma by heart, can also give a sweet little monologue on the fundamentals of Biology.

Kalki Koechlin and Aditya Roy Kapur are Ranbir’s cool and supportive friends who are almost like his backbone; RK uses them not just for some hardcore fun but also relies on them like a family. Kalki’s punkish, unpredictable, impulsive avatar is interesting to watch, and Ms Padukone who gradually ends up becoming her best bud in the film, beautifully describes her mercurial nature - from the way she at times thinks she’s an artist to her ludicrous notions of fighting 10 men all by herself – Koechlin’s character is beautifully etched out. Aditya on the other hand is simply…duh! The moment he opens his mouth, you feel like asking him to hone something – that’s his acting skills.

So the film is about Ranbir Kapoor – the flower child, and Deepika Padukone – the girl who desires a conventional life (shaadi, husband, kids, stability…blah blah!). How these two diametrically opposite characters unite and have the time of their lives with some ‘completely crazy in the head’ friends is what the film is all about.

Bunny and Naina’s eyes meet for the first time…err…the second time actually (and properly) in a train as they both head towards Manali. For Ranbir, it’s just another adventure but for the academic worm Deepika to ditch her usual routine of burning the midnight oil and her ‘high-fundoo’ tomes is a bold step. She basks in love and transforms (not completely but to the point of realising that making friends and having fun is as important as mugging up human anatomy). But just when she is about to confess her love to Ranbu after a fun-filled trip, she hears RK’s got a scholarship in Chicago. Later the charming Bunny whose dream is to fly, explore every nook and cranny of the world, revels in the sunshine of Europe and explores the streets of Paris.

But in the journey to find his passion, the Kapoor kid loses touch with his friends only to reunite with them years after at Kalki’s wedding. Yes, the hippie finally decides to marry someone else despite having feelings for Aditya in the past. And the movie conveys that love can happen twice. And as in Ranbir’s case, you can also be a late bloomer.

Will Ranbir come back to his daal-chawal kinda boring life; is it possible for a traveler like him to cut off his constantly fluttering wings? Well, you will have to watch the film for that.

There are moments in this movie that take you back to your college days. And even though the story is nothing out of the ordinary, not an exceptional concept, there are hardly any boring moments either. The signature Ayan Mukerji style may be missing, but the ‘Mumbaiyaness’ which was a strong flavour in Wake Up Sid, wafts through in this as well. The movie is like a pleasant book you would like to curl up with and read on a cold monsoon evening with hot chai and pakodas. Nothing serious or arty-farty about it, just have fun!
