The Duchess of Cambridge braved the wintry weather on a charity visit to combat the issue of cyberbullying this morning..

Kate, 31, who is still officially on maternity leave with four-month-old son Prince George, was working for the second day running in her capacity as Patron of Place2Be.

But the Duchess almost suffered a wardrobe malfunction as she arrived in a short pleated navy skirt and matching jacket at the London-based charity.

Kate seemed to be enjoying the day, despite the chilly - and rather windy- weather 

As she bent down to accept a posy from nine-year-old Tierney Potter, a pupil at St Edmund's School in Tower Hamlets, her skirt blew up in a gust of wind.

It's not the first time that Kate has suffered a close call with her outfit - unlike the Queen who weighs her hemlines down with lead curtain weights.

Her skirt was by Orla Kiely skirt and her jacket was by MaxMara she also sported a pair of gloves by Cornelia James (who makes them for the Queen), a £245 Russell and Bromley blue suede Muse bag and Alexander McQueen heels. 

Her hair was, sensibly given the gusty conditions, swept back in a ‘half up, half down do’, showing off a pair of Annoushka pearl earrings.

Tierney, who did not know she was going to be presenting the posy until she arrived at the venue this morning, said: 'I was nervous but excited. The Duchess said she wanted to say hello to the rest of the class, so I took her inside.'

Duchess Of Cambridge: Royal Couple 'Singing Prince George To Sleep'

Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William have found a great way to send Prince George their first child off to sleep, according to a new report as they've been singing him to sleep.

The royal couple welcomed their first child, Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge last week and have since been staying at Kate's parents home in Bucklebury, Berkshire where they're getting to know their son and it seems the tot is a fan of Coldplay as insiders have claimed dad Prince William has been belting out their hits to send his son off to sleep.

“William had no idea it would be this tough," a source reportedly told The Daily Star, “Prince William is using a bizarre tactic of belting out Coldplay anthems at all hours of the night even though he can barely hold a note.”

They went on: “It’s even keeping Kate’s parents awake.”

It was confirmed by royal sources last week that the couple would not be employing a nurse immediately for the future king as they had "plenty of help from family," the MailOnline claimed.

While we're not exactly sure how the insider got such intimate details of the royal couple's routine as new parents, it seems, bizzarely, William isn't even a Coldplay fan leading us to wonder why he'd choose Chris Martin's group to serenade his new son.

“His favourite song is Paradise and he also loves doing Yellow," the source expained. “Coldplay aren’t even his favourite band, but George responds to their songs the most and settles back down.”

They added :“Wills is shattered by the morning so he heads to bed for a couple of hours and Kate springs back into action along with her parents.”

It's not the first time Wills has reportedly exercised his vocal talents for his son, according to a previous report he sang Black Eyed Peas to Kate's baby bump during her pregnancy.

“William talks to the baby bump all the time and even sings lullabies and kisses it," a source told the Daily Star, "he’s very soppy."

They revealed: “He likes to sing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and Go To Sleep My Baby when it’s late at night.

“But he has also been making Kate laugh singing the Black Eyed Peas song Let’s Get It Started when the baby is kicking a lot.”

But what's Prince William's song of choice? He revealed in 2010 that he was a fan of none other than Justin Bieber, but his favourite ever song was Yesterday by the Beatles. So expect him to be belting that out soon baby George.

OK! Magazine Reveals Its Colours With A Truly Tacky Royal Baby Issue!

As literally anyone will tell you, this should be the absolute happiest of times for this septic isle, with the royal nativity making all of us complete. How sad, then, that some simply refuse to be caught up in the hoopla that has attended the baby's birth, with TV presenter Katy Hill treasonably declining to get behind OK! magazine's Royal Baby Special.

Published the very day the Duchess of Cambridge left hospital, but obviously put together before, the magazine's cover leads with "Kate's Post-Baby Weight Loss Regime". Though not billed as a WORLD EXCLUSIVE in the manner of the publication's internationally hard-won interviews with third-tier Made in Chelsea stars, we learn that it is nonetheless an exclusively. "OK! talks to Kate's trainer," the cover claims, and though they do nothing of the sort, I don't think we ought to be splitting hairs. "She's super-fit," the cover continues. "Her stomach will shrink straight back!"

As I say, this all prompted a furious tweet from Katy Hill, and her calls for a boycott of the mag garnered such online support that they forced a clarification from OK!'s parent company, Richard Desmond's Northern & Shell. Apparently, the cover has been "misunderstood", and criticism of Kate's appearance was "not intended".

Nor, indeed, were they accused of it. Still, bravo to them for non-apologising for something else entirely. Perhaps they could weigh in on slavery or the Mau Mau rebellion next week.

For a feel of what was intended, though, Lost in Showbiz has donned its rubber gloves and cut through the magazine's unsightly adipose tissue, in the hope of being able to free the svelte and self-respecting publication just bursting to get out.

The first thing we must note is that the mag is edited by one Kirsty Tyler, who has only been in the chair a few weeks. It is unclear whether Desmond now plans on shedding several stone of weight in the form of Kirsty: as someone who realistically gave up on his hopes of a knighthood a while ago, he may regard her as precisely what he ordered.

What I am delighted to confirm, though, is that this is not Kirsty's Lost in Showbiz debut. If we return to what we'll call this column's archives – basically, a vast silo bearing the label HazChem – we'll see that Kirsty first appeared on these pages two years ago, when she was still helming Desmond's New! magazine. Like Northern & Shell say, all their work comes from a place of love – and the story that brought Kirsty to our attention was a tale headlined "Broody Kate's Anorexia Nightmare". It consisted of quotes from unnatural-sounding "anonymous sources" and medical "experts" who did not treat the duchess.

Anyway, zip forward to the present day, and you'll note that Kirsty still has her finger on the pulse of the nation – and is pressing down very hard indeed.

"All eyes have been on Kate's changing pregnancy shape," declares the current issue of OK!. "When the new mum stands on the steps of St Mary's hospital … the questions on everyone's lips won't just include the name, sex and weight of the baby, but also how Kate plans to return to her pre-pregnancy glory."

Like she says, it's on everyone's lips. And if it's not on yours, then you're either weird or fat.

But don't let's give Kirsty all the credit for this piece of service journalism – because who is this hoving regally into view, stopping only to accept a few posies from wellwishers and acknowledge the cheering crowds? Why, it's former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond, who turns out to offer a sideline in clinical nutrition and personal training.

"Kate has always been super-fit and I'm sure she'll be back to her pre-baby shape in no time," says Jennie sagely. "Kate is said to have enjoyed yoga with a private tutor who visited her regularly, which will come in useful as she sheds her baby weight and regains her flexibility … She'll soon be using her gymball and dumbbells to tone her tummy muscles."

Suddenly Nicholas Witchell looks like Ed Murrow. "If she goes ahead with her plan to breastfeed," Jennie goes on, "it's the most natural way to shed any leftover pregnancy inches … I predict that in a couple of weeks she'll be as svelte as ever and twice as happy."

Mmm. I predict that in a couple of minutes, Jennie might wonder about the wisdom of bestowing her "expertise" in this manner.

As for the "trainer who's worked with [Kate]", the copy does not appear to support this claim. It turns out instead that the gimlet-eyed Emma Sayle once participated in a rowing thing with the duchess. The challenge was in aid of Emma's charity enterprise, which is called – somewhat hilariously in the circs – "The Sisterhood".

And that about wraps up OK!'s baby special. What can you say? Other than well done everybody.

At least it hasn't been all been bad on the royal experts front, because the birth has provided media outlets with the perfect excuse to exhume Lost in Showbiz's favourite mad servant: malfunctioning butler Paul Burrell.

To be honest, I had assumed that even Paul insisted on a few off-limits areas. Just as some celebrities have no-go interview questions, I'd have thought Paul would ban inquiries about royal presents, given that he was once discovered to have hoarded so many of them in his attic – along with a selection of Princess Di's dresses – for safekeeping.

But it turns out that royal presents is totally something Paul wants to talk about, telling Heat that the new parents can expect "everything from knitted suits to gold-plated christening sets". "Kate will thank family and friends by writing to them," he guesses knowledgeably, "and everyone else will get thanked by their office. So everyone gets a letter, no matter what you send. Who knows? China might give the new baby a panda for London Zoo."

And, in another life, Paul would have done everything he could to lure that panda into his attic for safekeeping. How unjust is fate.

Lost in Showbiz imagines that even now, every one of the thousands of unwanted presents is being stored in some vast secure facility like the warehouse at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark, to which Paul is bafflingly not the keymaster. What will happen to them all? Well, as the Queen apparently whispered to Burrell in the days after Diana's death, almost certainly while clutching his arm for emotional support: "Be careful, Paul! There are powers at work in this country of which we have no knowledge!"

The Queen arrived at Kensington Palace to visit the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and her great-grandson for the first time.

She made the short journey from Buckingham Palace to visit the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The Queen, who arrived in the rear of a dark green Bentley, has said that she is "thrilled" by the arrival of the future king, who is third in line to the throne.

The Queen left Kensington Palace after spending just over half an hour visiting.

As the royal family welcome their new arrival, the name game continues to grip the nation and bookmakers are noting new names entering public consideration. The new prince's grandfather was nameless for a month while the Queen took her time with the decision - will these parents continue that family tradition?

Britain seems convinced that the Duchess will choose the traditional moniker George for her son, with odds currently sitting at 9/4 according to Ladbrokes. James is also a popular choice at 4/1. However, bookmakers Paddy Power have noticed a surge towards the name Spencer, with odds now stacked at 8/1.

The country may have to wait to hear the name chosen for the heir to the throne, if previous royal births are taken into consideration. Royal supporters waited for a week to hear the name chosen for a newborn Prince William, although Prince Harry's name was unveiled upon his exit from the hospital in 1984.

Kate and William were welcomed back to the palace by her sister Pippa and other members of the Middleton family, who held a small family celebration to honour the latest addition to their family. Raising the royal baby will continue to be strictly a family affair it seems, as despite both William and Kate having busy schedules due to their official duties, an aide confirmed that the couple will not look to hire a nanny, according to the Telegraph.

Earlier that afternoon, the moment the media had been waiting for finally arrived when William and Kate emerged from the private wing of the Lindo hospital, allowing the world to finally catch a glimpse of the third-in-line to the throne.

The Duke and Duchess posed on the steps of St Mary's Hospital and presented the world with the future king, answering questions from the media scrum that has camped outside the hospital for weeks anticipating the birth of the royal baby, alongside thousands of well-wishers.

Twitter immediately exploded into a frenzy as soon as the royal baby entered into public view and 18,000 tweets a minute were posted.

William and Kate, looking relaxed and happy, brought their baby prince out into the public gaze and joked about their newborn being a "big boy". The Duchess, dressed in a light blue Jenny Packham dress cradled her son first and the couple appeared relaxed, smiling broadly as the world's media captured the moment.

The baby prince was the star attraction and appeared oblivious to the flashguns of the world's press photographers going off, but did seem to be partially awake during his first public appearance. His hand poked over the white shawl he was wrapped in, prompting many to take to Twitter and comment on the little prince's royal wave using # royalwave.

William later held the future king and walked towards the press with his wife to answer a few questions. He began by joking: "He's got a good pair of lungs on him, that's for sure. He's a big boy, he's quite heavy. "The Duke even promised to remind his child of his 'lateness', as his wife was believed to be at least a week past her due date when she went into labour." I'll remind him of his tardiness when he's a bit older because I know how long you've all been sat out here ", he said. "Hopefully the hospital and you guys can all go back to normal now and we're going to look after him ... "

Asked how he felt, William said "very emotional" and the Duchess agreed: "It's such a special time and I think any parent will probably know what this feeling feels like." He also revealed that no name has been chosen for the future heir to the throne. "We are still working on a name so we will have that as soon as we can," he said. "It's the first time we have seen him really, so we are having a proper chance to catch up."

William and Kate's appearance outside the Lindo Wing harked back to the day the Duke first emerged into the world outside the same hospital in the arms of the Prince and Princess of Wales in 1982. But the atmosphere was very different this time, as the royal couple were casually dressed and appeared to be at ease.

The birth of a son was also welcomed as an heir to throne, after a bill to amend the rules of succession was rushed through earlier this year to ensure that if the infant had been a girl, it could have still ascended to the throne.

Speculation had been mounting throughout Tuesday that the Duchess would leave hospital that day, after a woman was photographed carrying a car seat into the back entrance of St Mary's. William and Kate finally departed from the hospital just after 7.15pm, where William carried the infant in a baby seat and carefully placed him in the back of a range rover, before driving their family back to Kensington Palace.

The birth of Baby Cambridge, as he has been referred to by the media and social networks, is historic in many ways. The child is the first Prince of Cambridge to be born for more than 190 years. Charles's visit to the hospital was also an historic moment as it is believed to be the first time three male heirs to the throne - Charles, his son William and grandson - who are expected to reign, have come together in more than a hundred years.

The last time a similar gathering happened was likely to have been before Queen Victoria's death in 1901 when her son, later Edward VII, was with his son the future George V and grandson, later Edward VIII.

The child, weighing in at a hefty 8lb 6oz, is also the heaviest future king to be born for 100 years. William weighed 7lb 1.5oz when he was born in 1982, whilst the Prince of Wales weighed 7lb 6oz upon his birth.

Asked about changing nappies the Duke said: "We've done that already," and the Duchess confirmed he had "done his first nappy already". Joking again William said: "He's got her looks, thankfully," while Kate replied: " No, no, I'm not sure about that. "And poking fun at his apparent lack of hair the Duke said about his son:" He's got way more than me, thank God ".

The Queen tonight revealed she was "thrilled" at the arrival of her first great-grandson.

During a Buckingham Palace reception for recipients of the Queen's Award for Enterprise Louise Butt, of Bath-based science marketing firm Select Science, said: "She (the Queen) said she is thrilled and she said he is a big boy. She said the first born is very special. We agreed. "

In the hours before they left hospital William and Kate had received visits from their son's beaming grandparents - Michael and Carole Middleton and the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall.

Kate Middleton Gives Birth To Boy - Thousands Celebrate At Buckingham Palace!

The Duchess of Cambridge has given birth to a baby boy, Kensington Palace has announced.

The baby was delivered at 16:24 BST at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, west London, weighing 8lb 6oz.

The Duke of Cambridge said in a statement the couple "could not be happier". He and the duchess will remain in the hospital overnight.

The news has been displayed on an easel in the forecourt of Buckingham Palace in line with tradition.

A bulletin - signed by the Queen's gynaecologist Marcus Setchell, who led the medical team that delivered the baby - was taken by a royal aide from St Mary's to the palace under police escort.

The document said: "Her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4.24pm today.

"Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well."

When the news was announced, a large cheer went up from well-wishers and journalists outside the hospital while a large crowd greeted the posting of the bulletin outside Buckingham Palace.

The Kensington Palace press release said the Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth of his son, who will be known as the Prince of Cambridge and who is third in line to the throne.

"The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news," it said.

A Kensington Palace spokesman said the names of the baby - who was delivered in the private Lindo Wing of St Mary's - would be announced in due course.

The Prince of Wales, in a separate statement, said he and the Duchess of Cornwall were "overjoyed at the arrival of my first grandchild.

"It is an incredibly special moment for William and Catherine and we are so thrilled for them on the birth of their baby boy," he added.

"Grandparenthood is a unique moment in anyone's life, as countless kind people have told me in recent months, so I am enormously proud and happy to be a grandfather for the first time and we are eagerly looking forward to seeing the baby in the near future."

BBC royal correspondent Peter Hunt said the duke and duchess spent time bonding with their son before they told the family their news.

Royal doctor Mr Setchell described the new arrival as "wonderful baby, beautiful baby", our correspondent added.

Prime Minister David Cameron, speaking outside Downing Street, hailed the "wonderful news".

"It is an important moment in the life of our nation but I suppose, above all, it's a wonderful moment for a warm and loving couple who've got a brand new baby boy," he added.

He said the Royal Family could "know that a proud nation is celebrating with a very proud and happy couple tonight".

Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond said: "I am sure that people across Scotland will be absolutely thrilled to hear the news of the birth of a baby boy to the Royal couple and will want to join me in wishing the proud parents many congratulations."

And Welsh First Minister Carwyn Jones congratulated the couple "on behalf of the people of Wales" as "they enter their journey into parenthood".

The Archbishop of Canterbury, meanwhile, said he was "delighted to congratulate the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the arrival of their baby boy".

"Along with millions here and around the world, I share in their joy at this special time," he added.

"May God bless this family with love, health and happiness in their shared life ahead."

Catherine and Prince William had arrived at the hospital at 06:00 BST ahead of a Kensington Palace announcement that she was in the early stages of labour.

The world's media had been camped outside St Mary's for days in anticipation of the birth.

Once the baby is delivered, the tradition will continue with a wood and gold easel — the same easel used to announce the birth of William in 1982 — placed just behind the gates of Buckingham Palace to announce the baby’s delivery. The birth bulletin will include the baby’s gender, weight and time of birth, with the name being announced at a separate time.

Although the gender of the royal baby has been kept under wraps, a source told Us Weekly that Kate and William “will pose with the baby for pictures” upon leaving the hospital. It sounds like we won’t have to wait long to actually see him or her!

Onesies, blankets, teddy bears, and what!? The Duchess of Cambridge has been showered with gifts as her due date rapidly approaches, but one present in particular definitely had to catch her off guard.

Say what you want about Finland, but you cannot accuse them of giving lame gifts. The Finnish social security office, Kela, reportedly sent Kate Middleton a care package to celebrate her soon-to-be motherhood, and some of the gift’s contents are downright shocking (and pretty hilarious, too).

Kela reportedly sent Kate a package that contained leggings, a snowsuit, a hooded bath towel, a hairbrush, diaper rash cream, a teething toy, and a picture book, according to The Mirror.

And oh yeah, one more thing — condoms!

Yep, right next to the diaper rash cream was a pack of prophylactics for Kate and Prince William to enjoy. Kela gives the unlikely combination care package to all expectant moms in Finland, according to the Mirror.

An official statement was released from Kensington Palace after Kate received the package:

We were delighted to receive the very kind gift of the maternity package from the Finnish government. It was a very thoughtful gesture and we’re very grateful for it. I’m sure the Duke and Duchess will be very interested to see the contents.
