Jiah Was Drunk When She Committed Suicide: Forensic Report!

After more than month of actress Jiah Khan's suicide the forensic report has arrived.

Sources say that the report suggested that some percentage of alcohol was found in Jiah's blood test report.

The director, MK Malve of Kalina Forensic Laboratory said that they have submitted Khan's report to police but he denied the details about the report.

After several attempt to call and SMS the additional commissioner of police, Vishwas Nangre Patil was unavailable for comment. Sources confirmed that the forensic report has come and some percentage of alcohol was found in the actress's blood, the report suggests.

Khan committed suicide by hanging herself in her flat in Juhu in the first week of June after she had an argument with her boyfriend Suraj Pancholi.

She had left a six page note without naming anyone saying that she was harassed, tortured and raped. Following on circumstantial evidence and call records Juhu police arrested Suraj on charges of abetment suicide.

Sonam Kapoor: I Would Like To Play Character Meena kumari!

Sonam Kapoor’s body language reflects the mood of the cloudy Saturday afternoon in Mumbai. We are at her plush residence in Juhu.

The torrential rain has just calmed a bit, leaving the fashionista in the mood to laze on the cushy couch in her living room. But congratulate Sonam on the success of her recently released movie Raanjhanaa and the babe springs back to life with her trademark vivaciousness….

Were you expecting the unbelievable reaction that your film Raanjhanaa is getting?

I am very happy with the reactions the film has received. While working on this project never did I imagine that we will get so much appreciation from audiences. I worked hard on this movie, just the way I work on any other film. It is up to God that some films become successful and some don’t. I enjoyed working with Anand Rai (director of Raanjhanaa). He is my favourite director. I would like to work with him again.

Your chemistry with Dhanush has been appreciated a lot. The Kolaveri di singer has done a fine job in the movie. What do you have to say about his Bollywood debut?

Dhanush is a very good actor and he is a very good human being. I think that’s what an aam aadmi likes- this rare combination of a good actor and a very good human being off the screen.

Do you think you are proving to be a luck factor for newcomers in the industry? You and Ranbir Kapoor debuted together in Saawariya. Today Ranbir is a huge success and now Dhanush has made a successful debut with you.

I think the magic lies in the script. If the movie is good, it will become a hit. I don’t consider myself lucky for anyone.

There’s a strong buzz about Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Fans are looking forward to this movie. Tell us, how well are you going to support the Flying Sikh aka Farhan Akhtar in this film?

I have a very small role in this one. I think it is more of a special appearance. Having said that, I would like to add that my character is instrumental in turning Milkha into the Flying Sikh. I play a Punjabi kudi. She is very beautiful and very innocent and she inspires Milkha to explore his true potential. Unlike my character Zoya from Raanjhanaa, this girl in BMB is very shy and pure at heart.

How do you pick your films?

I make crazy choices. When I signed Raanjhanaa people were like ‘Arre, tu pagal ho gayi hain kya?’ (have you gone mad?). Any film I sign, people think that I am going mad. But my choices have helped me do good work. I don’t get typecast. I am working with the best directors. I am getting to work with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, with Farhan Akhtar. I am getting to work with Anand Rai and portray a character like Zoya. I am working with Yash Raj in a film where characters are very strong. I am gaining new experiences and do what I like to do.

Is this a conscious move on your part that after showing your stylish self in Aisha you are playing small town characters first in Raanjhanaa and now in BMB?

My character Zoya is the prettiest girl in Benares. So she was glamorous in her own way. Just because I am wearing Indian dresses in the movie, you cannot conclude that I am less glamorous. In Aisha I played a South Delhi, high-society girl. I think every girl can be glamorous in her own space. I don’t want to be typecast. I am playing a village belle in BMB; then you will see me in a different, corporate-cool kind of avatar in the Yash Raj film opposite Ayushmann Khurrana and I will be a lot grungier in Khoobsurat. Yes, I have made these choices consciously and they will pay me in the long run.

In Raanjhanaa, your character is very politically opinionated. In your personal space too you voice your opinion clearly, even when most people think that it is best to remain silent or be politically correct on various social issues….

Because I am a public figure, I get noticed for my response to some of the idiotic and stupid remarks some of our spiritual and political leaders make. I say what I feel like saying. I say it on a social platform. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it. It encourages young girls to come forward and share their views. If somebody is telling me you cannot wear a short skirt because boys are going to be rattled by it, obviously I am going to raise my voice against it.

If I, as a public figure, cannot voice my opinion, then other girls won’t come forward to say what they want to say. I may not be a huge star or a very popular figure. But whatever fame I have gained, I want to make use of that to better the way women are projected. In fact, it is irresponsible to not have an opinion and to be politically correct all the time. You should stand for what you feel is right. I am doing that in my small capacity.

Do you think one needs to be politically correct to stay safe in the industry?

It is shameful that some actors do not want to talk about social topics, be it Jiah Khan’s death or the Uttarakhand tragedy. Not voicing your opinion is so incorrect. You cannot be politically correct on issues which need to be discussed. If you want to be politically correct, then don’t bitch about anyone. How many actors do that? I will never criticise any actor on the personal front. But when it comes to important things, then I should have an opinion.

Farhan Akhtar is playing Milkha Singh on the big screen – name one icon you would like to portray on the silver screen…

I would like to play Meena Kumari. She had a tragic life.

Sonam, you cried at the trailer launch of BMB. What got you so emotional?

Have you not seen the trailer? Did you not get emotional? I feel that I am blessed to be a part of this movie, even though my role is very small, because I know this film is going to go down in the history as an iconic film. I know Rakeysh and Farhan have made a film together which is really amazing. The blood, sweat and tears that have gone into making this film is insane. When I saw the trailer I thought ‘Oh my God, I am a part of it’ and I started crying.

We hear that you charged Rs 11 for this movie..

Main pagal hoon. I could not thank Rakeysh enough for making me a part of this beautiful film. I would want to make it very clear that this film was a one-off movie. Otherwise where will I get the money from to shop if I don’t charge for acting? I think this movie is special because I believe that sports in our country don’t get the push they deserve to get. This movie will encourage people to take up sport.

How was the experience working with Farhan Akhtar?

I did not meet Farhan Akhtar at all! He became Milkha Singh. I never met Farhan Akhtar on the sets.

You continue to surprise us with your immaculate style sense. How do you do that?

I have a multiple personality disorder, so I try to play different people. I experiment a lot and most importantly, I manage to be myself even then!

Tejaa Deokar To Play Role Modelled on Jiah Khan Mysterious Suicide!

It’s been almost three weeks since Jiah Khan committed suicide at his residence in Juhu, and with each passing day there have been startling revelations surrounding his death to the point that the filmmakers have begun to announce projects based in the life of the late actor.

Firstly, a lesser known filmmaker Rikshhit Matta cashed in on the troubled starlet’s personal and professional turmoil, saying that her tragedy inspired him to make a film. Tentatively titled Bold Bollywood, it takes on the underbelly of B-town and puts the spotlight on the pressures that female actors have to deal with. And now we hear that a Marathi filmmaker Yogesh Jadhav has roped in actor Tejaa Deokar to play the lead in his movie Nati scheduled to go on floors by August end. “The story revolves around a female actor who commits suicide because of her personal and professional reasons,” Tejaa said while talking to a newspaper.

It seems industrywallas have taken a cue from Ram Gopal Varma who (unabashedly) announced a film on the attacks of 26/11 shortly after the tragic incident struck Mumbai. Wethinks it’s too soon for Jiah Khan to be metamorphosed on to the 70 mm.

Priya Anand Exclusive Interview: I Want To Be An Unaltered Actor!

The pretty Fukrey gal talks about working as a journalist, her thoughts on Jiah Khan’s suicide and acting alongside Sridevi
In English Vinglish she played a sweet young girl who helped Sridevi gain self confidence and find perspective.

And in person, Priya Anand is just as sweet. Positive and with an intelligence to match, the actor has already made news down South with a slew of interesting projects. Now just as her second film in Bollywood – where she plays a character radically different to her own – releases, Priya shares how challenging it was to play a girl from a city where she has no real ties. Find out what makes the pretty Ms Anand tick…

You’ve lived in various cities except for Delhi, and here you are playing a true blue Delhi girl in Fukrey – what was it like getting into the skin of your character?

You know, that was the best part about Fukrey. I got to experience so many different things and places. I have had experiences of living in different cities, big and small. I have lived in Chennai and in Hyderabad, so I know how it is being from a small town. Sure I was nervous, as I had little to relate to in terms of my character – a 17-year-old girl from Subhash Nagar in Chandni Chowk who has had no real exposure. It was a challenge, but it all fit together so well with all the actors being on the same page that it became easy for me to get under her skin. It also gave me a chance to experience that fresh young love. I was grateful for that, since all the emotions I went through playing my character really had me experience that first love. Also, my director Mrigdeep is a task master, so it was fun.

You’ve studied journalism as well. Ever done a celeb interview?

(Laughs) I didn’t get to that. I did study that in the US and how it helped me was to give me a very real insight into how things function, how the industry functions and what part do celebrities and the media play in keeping the dialogue going. So I have very realistic expectations as an actor. But yes, it’s a pity I couldn’t interview an actor. If I were to be a journalist for a day and interview someone, I don’t know who it would be. But I do know that I would ask some really hard questions. I’d really like to call out all the celeb bluffs and ask questions that’d really make them uncomfortable! And why not, because I only have to do it for a day!

What’s more fun – working in South movies or Hindi movies?

You know, I don’t feel too much of a difference. Because in spite of the many differences that may exist, there is so much more that is common. So many technicians travel back and forth between the two industries. Scripts are shared, and movies are remade from Tamil or Malayalam to Hindi and vice versa. The only actual difference I’ve seen is in the movie promotions. In Bollywood the actors really market the movie well. In the South they don’t pursue promotions so religiously. They don’t show up for the audio release and things like that, while Bollywood is more serious about movie promotions.

Tell us about your experience working with Sridevi in English Vinglish….

I have adored her as a kid. One of the reasons I chose the role in English Vinglish was because I wanted to meet her and to learn from her. Because if you see, it was a small role and I doubt whether any other actor would have agreed to do it as their Bollywood debut. But for me, I was thinking that if I can act in front of an actor like Sridevi, I can act in front of anyone. And that is so true!

Who are some of the Bollywood filmmakers you want to work with?

Oh, there are so many filmmakers who are so passionate today. They all have different attributes, and their own different ways and styles. But for me, what’s important is who wants to work with me. That is when an actor’s confidence increases. The fact that a director sees the potential in you, and works with you to reach that level of performance. For me, that’s what matters. I also don’t want to be someone who is easily replaceable in a role. In that manner I want to be unique and contribute to the film in my way, so I’m hired for being me and not only as a pretty face.

As a young actor, what are your thoughts on the unfortunate story of Jiah Khan?

It has hit me really hard. I don’t talk or read about it. I didn’t watch it on TV or the news. She was educated and had exposure. She had been around the world. So for someone like her, who has a perfect life, it really seems so harsh. But then again, it could have been anybody. It could be me. I’m just sorry about the fact that someone decided to take such a decision. I feel bad for her family. I really empathise with her, being a young actor myself. I’ve also gone through highs and lows, but it’s important to remember that everything is temporary. You’ve got to have perspective and think long term.

Suraj Pancholi Confessed To Beating Up Jiah Khan, Say Cops

The junior Pancholi, who was detained by the Mumbai police on June 10 in connection with Jiah’s suicide, has finally admitted to beating up his ex-girlfriend...

It’s been over a week since Jiah Khan committed suicide at her Juhu residence. What followed was a police investigation and some startling revelations. Jiah’s six-page suicide letter found at her home and her mother Rabiya Amin Khan’s statement reportedly claimed that Suraj Pancholi, who was dating Jiah, is responsible for the young actor’s suicide.

Media reports today suggest that Suraj has allegedly confessed that he had beaten up his girlfriend Jiah following a fight in Goa eight months ago, after which the Nishabd actor took the drastic step of attempting suicide by slitting her wrist. Juhu police investigating the case said, “Suraj has admitted to being in a live-in relationship with Jiah.” The police is contemplating adding an additional charge under Section 498-A (harassment of a woman by husband or in-laws) of IPC against Pancholi.

Police have also received the late 25-year-old’s medical report from a Juhu hospital where Jiah had undergone an abortion. “The doctor who conducted the abortion knew Jiah and her boyfriend Suraj. In fact, the abortion was conducted in the first two months of this year. We have recorded the doctor’s statement,” police reports say. Shedding more light on the case DCP Chhering Dorje said, “The pregnancy was not terminated through pills. We have sent summons to the doctor who performed the surgery, as well as to Jiah’s friends who knew about it.”

With each passing day and every new update in the suicide case, it looks like the legal trouble for the aspiring actor Suraj Pancholi is not going to end soon. The Mumbai court will issue its verdict on the lad today. Watch this space for more news.

Suraj Promised To Marry Jiah; Says Jiah In Suicide Notes

Juhu police recovered the letters on Monday night; their content hasn't been disclosed yet but they were cited in court in order to get the boyfriend's custody for further probe

Yet another twist has knotted up Bollywood actor Jiah Khan's suicide case. On Monday night, hours after her boyfriend Suraj Pancholi was arrested for abetting her suicide, the Juhu police searched his house and discovered five love letters written by Jiah to him.

While producing Suraj in Andheri Metropolitan Court, the police asked for his custody to investigate and verify the contents of these letters. The court granted them his custody for two days till June 13, after the prosecution argued that his interrogation was necessary following the allegations of threat, assault and rape against him by the actor in the 6-page note discovered three days after her suicide.

In his statement to the police, Suraj has accepted that he had beaten up Jiah, who under pressure from him even aborted their child at a Juhu-based hospital. Jiah had spoken about her pregnancy to many of her friends, and now the police are going to question them as well.

The defence lawyer argued against Suraj's police custody, saying, `Why did the victim's mother bring the suicide note three days after the incident? Why was she mum when she came to know that Suraj was beating her daughter? My client is innocent. He has been framed.` But the court wasn't convinced.

Police sources said that 'I love you' has been mentioned several times in three of the letters recovered from Suraj's house, while the content of the other two is the same as that of the six-page note in which Jiah related her overwrought relationship that formed the basis of Suraj's arrest.

Probe broadens
According to the Juhu police, the handwriting on the 6-page note matches that on the five letters found with Suraj at first glance. `We have sent all the letters recovered from Suraj's house to handwriting experts to verify if they were penned by Jiah. On the basis of primary information, we will call all the people related to this issue.

We have met Jiah's family members personally to get more information. We will interrogate Suraj's servant Deva, who last visited her house with a bouquet sent by him, right before her death,` said Additional Commissioner of Police (West) Vishwas Nangre-Patil.

`We have recovered Jiah Khan's BlackBerry phone with the help of which we will come to know whom she had forwarded the message to in her last moments. To open her BlackBerry and WhatsApp messengers, we are taking help from IT experts because only she knew the password,` added Nangre-Patil.

Reliable sources from Juhu police station said Jiah's mother, Rabia had given a statement to police, stating that Suraj had promised to marry Jiah, but when she became pregnant, he started ignoring her, at the behest of his actor father, Aditya.

`In primary investigations, we did not find any role of Aditya Pancholi in this case. We are taking legal help to add section 498 (harassment) to the charges against Suraj to make the case watertight,` a police officer said, requesting anonymity.

Police are also probing which hospital the actor went to for the abortion, so they can record the statement of the doctor concerned.

Cops are awaiting the medical report to find out if the bruises on her face at the time she was found hanging were caused because someone had beaten her before her death. Suraj, son of actor couple Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, was arrested on Monday under IPC section 306 for abetting Jiah's suicide, a week after she hanged herself from the ceiling fan at her Juhu apartment on June 3.

Suraj Pancholi’s Police Custody Extended Till June 13 ; Jiah Khan Suicide

Aditya Pancholi’s son, arrested by the Mumbai police on charges of abetting Jiah’s suicide, has been remanded to police custody till Thursday...

Suraj Pancholi, who was arrested yesterday evening by the Mumbai police in the Jiah Khan suicide case, won’t be able to set himself free from the clutches of law, at least not until June 13. The shocking details of Jiah’s six-page suicide note allegedly addressed to Suraj prompted the police to detain him.

“A suicide note, statement of Rabiya Khan and some circumstantial evidence of triggering,” said Additional Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangre Patil. Rabiya has alleged that her daughter was driven to suicide due to a messy love affair. “The letter does not have a name, so who it is addressed to is something you can only ask Jiah. But because of the past incidents and what she told me, everything point towards Suraj Pancholi,” she said while talking to reporters yesterday.

In his defense, Suraj’s lawyer has argued that the letter does not name his client. Let’s see what comes out this time as the police will be questioning Suraj once again.

Ram Gopal Varma Pays Honor To Jiah Khan Through Short Film

Ram Gopal Varma Pays Honor To Jiah Khan Through Short Film

The director Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has made a two-minute film on the late actor which shows her zest for life and her charming onscreen person...

Ram Gopal Varma is a man of few words. And so, when Bollywood expressed its grief in so many words, RGV chose to pay his tribute to Jiah Khan in a different way. The director, with whom Jiah made her Bollywood debut in Nishabh, has made a special two-minute short film on her.

The filmmaker chose not to attend the condolence meeting on Saturday, and instead he worked at cutting a video which he then presented to Jiah’s mother and sisters. The clip titled The Reel & the Reality of Jiah shows two scenes from Nishabd where Jiah is seen in her element, holding her own in front of the legend, Amitabh Bachchan, and expounding life’s philosophies. “Zindagi ko light leneka…,” she says and the movie fades to black, with RGV’s message that reads, ‘How I wish we all could have made her follow this philosophy in real life too.’

“I couldn’t bring myself to attend any memorial for Jiah. For me she will always be alive. I decided to put together this tribute. When I was looking at her in Nishabd again I was struck by how spontaneous she was onscreen… and not the least intimidated by Mr Bachchan! I can’t believe she is gone,” said Ramu.

Jiah Khan Suicide: Suraj Pancholi Detained By Cops!

Actress Jiah Khan's friend Suraj Pancholi has been detained by Mumbai police in connection with the 25-year-old's suicide. Suraj, son of actors Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, reportedly dated Jiah for nearly a year. He was the last person she spoke to on the phone on the night of June 3, police said, before hanging herself in her Mumbai home on June 3.

Suraj and his father Aditya Pancholi were questioned by Mumbai police for three hours on June 4.

Jiah left no suicide note. However, a six-page letter addressed to an unnamed person has been found and handed over to the police by her family.

In the letter, which appears to be written to a former or present boyfriend, Jiah says, "If you're reading this I might have already left or about to leave. I am broken inside."

Jiah talks about "kissing goodbye" her film career and claims that a promise of an engagement after a year of dating was broken.

"Your life was about partying and women. Mine was you and my work. If I stay here I will crave you and miss you," says Jiah, accusing the boyfriend of cheating on her, in the poignant letter.

You destroyed My Life: Jiah Khan In Suicide Note

Mumbai police are likely to summon Sooraj Pancholi, son of actor Aditya Pancholi, for questioning on Monday after a six-page letter allegedly written by Jiah Khan was found during the course of the actress' suicide probe. Though the police are tightlipped about the content, news reports...

The Indian Express quoted Jiah Khan as saying in the letter that she was ending her life because, "I have no reason to breathe anymore. All I wanted was love. I did everything for you. I was working for us. My future is destroyed. My happiness snatched away from me. You never appreciated my love. kicked me in my face. I have no confidence or self esteem left. Whatever talent, whatever ambition, you took it all away. You destroyed my life."

"All you want in life is partying, your women, your selfish motives. All I wanted was you and my happiness. You took both away from me. I spent selflessly on you."

"I have nothing left to live for in this world after this. I wish you had loved me like I love you. I leave this place with nothing but broken dreams and empty promises. All I want now is to go to sleep and never wake up again," said the letter.

The details of the letter however could not be independently verified by HT.

When contacted, Juhu police refused to divulge the details of the letter but said investigators are in the process of seeking legal opinion to ascertain if the contents of letter amount to abetment in the actor's suicide.

The police also said they are verifying the authenticity of the letter.

The family of the deceased actress handed over the notarized copy of the letter to the police on Saturday. The family notarized the letter, penned down in English, so that it could not be manipulated at a later stage.

Sources said that six-page letter, allegedly written by Khan, was recovered by the family from her bedroom. It has been said that the letter did not mention any names and was not addressed to anyone in particular.

Jiah Khan also has reportedly written about a party in Goa and a medical procedure she underwent during the relationship. While the family has kept the original copy with themselves a notarized copy will be given to the Juhu police for further probing.

Jiah Khan has not named anyone in the letter. It was also confirmed by the police that Jiah Khan, had attempted suicide earlier by slashing her wrist. But it was only after the medical procedure she underwent, that she took the drastic step.

Twenty five-year-old Jiah Khan had committed suicide by hanging herself at her Juhu residence on June 3.

The police will also send the letter for forensic analysis to confirm if it was written by the late actress. They also hope to ascertain the approximate date it was written on.

Officials have said that the letter may play a crucial role in the investigation as it has a mention of Khan's troubled relationship with Pancholi.

The 25-year old actor reportedly hanged herself at her Juhu residence late last night.

According to the police her maid, watchman and neighbours are being interrogated to find out her last visitors.
Jiah made her acting debut in the controversial Ram Gopal Varma's 'Nishabd' where she acted opposite Amitabh Bachchan.

Upon its release in March 2007, the film received mixed reviews, but Jiah was noted for her confidence, attitude, and sex appeal.
She also got a Filmfare Best Debutant Nomination.
She then appeared alongside Aamir Khan in A.R. Murugadoss's 'Ghajini', the Hindi remake of the director's own Tamil film of the same name.

Jiah's mother and sister had gone out and she was alone at the house when the incident happened, police said.
"Jiah's mother and sister found her hanging when they returned at around 11 pm," police said, adding that Jiah used her own dupatta to hang herself.

Police said postmortem of the body will be conducted on Tuesday and they have registered a case of accidental death.
Police are yet to record the statement of the actress' mother as she is in shock.

Bipasha Basu tweeted: "#Rip Jiah Khan!God bless her soul!"
Shahid Kapoor, with who Jiah had been cast in Chance Pe Dance before being replaced by Genelia D'Souza, tweeted: "Shocked n saddened to hear about jiah khan... Very disturbing... RIP... may her soul rest in peace."
