"Hasee Toh Phasee" Parineeti Chopra Stunning at Trailer Launch

Parineeti Chopra, Sidharth Malhotra, Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane and director Vinil Mathew launched the trailer of Hasee Toh Phasee in Mumbai on December 13, 2013.

Parineeti Chopra looked like a daisy, impressed the audience, and Sidharth Malhotra sure was the show-stealer, since it his very rare appearance in a long time. And also, he is a thorough charmer! And how is the trailer?

Well, one look and you are reminded for Dimple Chaddha of Ladies VS Ricky Bahl, or Gayatri of Shuddh Desi Romance, and now: Meeta in Hasee Toh Phasee. Any difference? Nope!

Parineeti Chopra is getting typecast and typical with the kind of roles she is selecting. In Hasee Toh Phasee too she is essaying a role of a tomboy, happy-go-lucky kind of a girl, who eats toothpaste and Sidharth Malhota, as Nikhil, comes across as a matured, but confused, kind of a boy. As the trailer progresses, one can see the transformation in Parineeti as Meeta. From a short haired tomboy, who refuses to smile, to a party goer who dances like a maniac, to finally a girl who is in love. What an original and fresh idea, isn’t it?

Adah Sharma, who was last seen in Hum Hain Raahi Car Ke, plays the second female lead in Hasee Toh Phasee.

Couple of hours prior to release of the trailer, an excited Karan Johar, tweeted, “Feb 7th. Love goes Cuckin Frazy. Dharma and Phantom collaborate for the first time!”

Anurag Kashyap, who is very excited about this project, said, “The story works with fresh faces, but requires a high level of chemistry and maturity in the performances. After spending months, shortlisting various actors, we finalized Sidharth and Parineeti.”

The rom-com is directed by adman-turned director Vinil Mathew, and produced under the banner of Dharma Productions and Phantom Films. Hasee Toh Phasee is slated to release on February 7, 2014.

In the end, all that feels from the trailer is that the actors and the makers are trying really hard to justify the punch line on the poster, “Love Goes Cuckin Frazy.” Indeed!

Gori Tere Pyaar Mein Movie Review: Lacks Romance And Comedy!

It has two good looking actors, some pretty locations, cool-looking costumes, a few good songs and also some funny moments but the problem is that's all that's there in Punit Malhotra's Gori Tere Pyaar Mein!.

Rating: 3 out of 5 Stars

Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan look good together in the film. And we all know that getting the right actors is one of the most important requirements when one is making a rom-com. Another important aspect is to get the right look but since it's a Dharma Production that is obviously taken care of.

{blurb}

Imran Khan plays Sriram Venkat, a selfish city boy who can't think beyond himself. His worried parents want him to settle down, so the next best bet is to push him into an arranged marriage and hoping that may set his life on track. Sriram is introduced to Vasudha (Shradha Kapoor) who he likes at first sight but she doesn't want him to say yes to the arranged proposal because she loves someone else. Sriram starts narrating his ex girlfriend, Dia's (Kareena Kapoor Khan) story to her.

Dia wants to contribute to the world, she is an active social worker and that's the only thing on her mind all the time. After bumping into her when she is in action, they both start seeing each other. Obviously since they are totally different from each other, there is bound to be a conflict. Sorry to break your heart but all the fun parts are only before the interval.

Post interval Dia has moved to a village where she helps villagers and is satisfied with her simple village life, Sriram obviously wants her back and hence he goes all the way to the village. Dia won't leave till a bridge is constructed over a river that links the village to the more developed parts, so far the villagers have been using a make-shift bridge made of rope.

Obviously rom-coms shouldn't be taken very seriously, so I won't do that either and to be fair, this one does entertain in parts. Kareena Kapoor Khan steals the show, her character is well written and she keeps you entertained throughout by doing her job convincingly. Imran suits the role, he has tried hard and it has worked to a certain extent. He plays the city boy very well but it's tough for him to pull off the over the top herogiri.

Overall, the music by Vishal - Shekhar is average. Tooh, Dhat Tere Ki and Chingam Chabake are catchy numbers and must add that Dhat Tere Ki is indeed very well shot.

This is Punit's second attempt at a rom-com and he gets a few things right and a few wrong, making Gori Tere Pyaar Mein an average entertainer.

Love Birds Katrina Kaif & Ranbir Kapoor's Midnight Date Interrupted By Paparazzi - Photos

Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor was seen on a late night date with his rumoured girlfriend and co-star Katrina Kaif and cousin Kareena Kapoor on Sunday (November 10) at director Karan Johar's party. The rumoured couple has never accepted their relationship in public, but the two are spotted together almost eveywhere. They were last seen at the Bachchans Diwali bash last week.

The rumoured couple has never accepted their relationship in public, but the two are spotted together almost eveywhere. They were last seen at the Bachchans Diwali bash last week.

One of Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif's midnight rendezvous hit a roadblock on Saturday.

The star apparently took the driver's seat to pick up his ladylove from a preview theatre in Santa Cruz.

Kat, along with several other Bollywood folk, was watching a private screening of the recent Hollywood film, Captain Phillips. After the movie was over, RK reached the spot along with friend Ayan Mukerji, but when the duo noticed that there are some photographers present at the venue, they took a hurried U turn and made a quick exit from the theatre. Minutes later Katrina left the place in her own car.

Says a source, "It was well past midnight when Ranbir arrived at the preview theatre. He did not step in. He had apparently arrived to pick up Katrina. Probably RK, Kat and Ayan had some late night dinner plans. But when they realised they might get caught on camera, Ranbir decided to drive away."

Adds the source, "He was spotted when the screening was almost complete and when people were stepping out. It was obvious that he had not come to watch the film, but only to pick up Katrina."

Director Kabir Khan and his wife Mini Mathur, Arjun Kapoor, Vidyut Jamwal and choreographer Bosco Martis were also present at the screening. The special viewing of the action thriller starring Tom Hanks was organised for these select few. The buzz is that Kabir Khan is planning a project on its lines.

Of late, Ranbir has been driving around Kat late at night quite often. Looks like he loves being Kat's chauffeur with her car tailing RK's vehicle.

"(My next is) 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania'. The announcement has just been made and I am doing this film with Varun. It will release next year. (I am) Very excited about that," the 20-year-old said here Tuesday at the India International Jewellery Week.

Hrithik Roshan And Kareena Kapoor Team-Up Again In Shuddhi!

Hrithik Roshan And Kareena Kapoor

Kareena Kapoor Khan has been roped in for Shuddhi opposite Hrithik Roshan. Director Karan Malhotra feels Kareena is a stunning woman, and suits the character best.

Trust Karan Johar to do the unimaginable! Ever since the Student Of The Year director announced a few months ago that he would be directing a period drama next, there have been all kinds of stories doing the rounds regarding his ambitious movie’s star cast.

First there was news of Ranbir Kapoor sharing screen space with KJo’s best buddy Shahrukh Khan. Then there was the story that Ranboo might team up with his cousin Kareena Kapoor and the duo might play brother and sister in the film. But that’s all in the past now. We just heard that Karan has managed a casting coup!

The director-producer-designer-now actor had already roped in his favourite honey-eyed star to play the lead in his new home production Shuddhi almost four months ago, but was still unsure about the female lead. Now the Dharma Productions’ head honcho has proudly declared his leading lady to be Kareena – another favourite of Karan’s – who’ll romance Hrithik in an intense love story to be directed by Karan Malhotra. Johar feels Bebo and Duggu together will bring in the required amount of energy that his director has envisioned.

“I spoke to Hrithik and Kareena and they were happy to be on board. The film is an intense love story and because it has a reincarnation theme, Karan has written a script that is dramatic and outstanding. To me, it is really an important casting,” said the proud filmmaker, talking to a newspaper.

The film will go on the floors by the end of this year and will release during Diwali 2014. There’s no denying that it will be a treat to watch the two supremely good-looking actors sharing screen space after a decade, but we wonder if Bebo and Duggu will be able to create magic.

After all, they failed to do so in previous films like Yaadein, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon. This time, the time and distance could make them really convincing as two people finding a long-lost love. What do you think?

Irrfan Khan Rocks At 4th London Indian Film Festival

The fact that Irrfan Khan is one of Indian cinema’s most recognised faces abroad was underlined by the fact that he was mobbed wherever he went in London as part of the 4th London Indian Film Festival.

Fans of all nationalities, whether British, German, Afghani, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, American, Turkish, French, Spanish, Italian or even from Nauru, accosted Irrfan on his travels across London and requested him to pose with them for keepsake photographs. It all culminated in a packed Q&A with The Warrior director Asif Kapadia at the British Film Institute where a particularly rabid fan asked Irrfan to hug his wife (the fan’s, not Irrfan’s) on stage. Irrfan obliged and sent the crowd (and the wife and husband) into paroxysms of delight.

Meanwhile, director Pawan Kumar’s Kannada-language film Lucia won the coveted Audience Award at the Festival. The inventive crowd-funded film, powered by UK-based online outfit Distrify, delighted sold out audiences across the city. It will get an Indian release on August 15, fitting for an independent film. Pawan Kumar said, “To win this award in the face of such powerful competition is a dream come true for me. I thank the London Indian Film Festival for selecting the film for its world premiere and would also like to thank the London audience and the UK Kannada community for supporting the film.”

Anurag Goswami won the Satyajit Ray Foundation’s short film award, held in conjunction with LIFF, for Kaun Kamleshwar? (Who’s Kamleshwar?). The jury, comprising Atif Ghani (producer – Ill Manors), Kim Longinotto (director – Salma), Sunny Grewal (BBC London), Meghna Gupta (shorts director, Unravel) and Satwant Gill (LIFF), said, “The Satyajit Ray Foundation’s short film award goes to a film which was confident and ambitious in its storytelling, gave us engaging characters and was genuinely cinematic. Using some unforgettable images and offbeat humour the film explores how random decisions have the power to shape our lives.”

Anurag Goswami said, “It’s an honour and a great feeling that our efforts have been recognised at such a prestigious avenue. Short films are finding an audience like never before, courtesy festivals such as LIFF. It’s very encouraging and satisfying that our voices are being heard all over the world. Thank you LIFF!”

Special Jury Mention went to Vikram Dasgupta for his entertaining, bold and vibrant interweaving of stories in the film Calcutta Taxi.

The London Indian Film Festival opened with Amit Kumar’s Cannes favourite Monsoon Shootout and closed with Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Bannerjee and Anurag Kashyap’s homage to the centenary of Indian cinema, Bombay Talkies. The sold out screening was preceded by a powerful speech by noted Bollywood and Hollywood actor Gulshan Grover, who described the wondrous journey of Indian cinema thus far to a rapt audience. Bombay Talkies producer Ashi Dua participated in a lively Q&A after.

Gulshan Grover said, “The London Indian Film Festival makes me proud. As a member of the Indian film fraternity I feel that the festival is doing wonderful things for Indian cinema, especially the cutting edge, progressive cinema that needs a platform for visibility, for reaching out to more people and more hearts. The London Indian Film Festival is exactly doing that.” Gulshan Grover has four new releases coming up including Bullett Raja, Sooper Se Ooper, Yariaan and Baat Bann Gayi.

Cary Rajinder Sawhney, Festival Director said, “The Festival has gone from strength to strength. Its great to close with a wonderful fusion between Bollywood and independent films, different energies and ideas crashing into each other in dynamic ways; a perfect finale for audiences in an eclectic city like London.”

Amit Mehra: Pran Was Looking Forward To See 'Zanjeer' Remake!

Legendary actor Pran was keen to see the remake version of 'Zanjeer', the film in which he left a mark with his impressive performance, producer Amit Mehra said today.

Pran played the iconic role of 'Sher Khan' in the 1973 blockbuster, directed and produced by Prakash Mehra, Amit's father. That role has been essayed by Sanjay Dutt in the remake version, directed by Apoorva Lakhia.

'Zanjeer' marked the arrival of Amitabh Bachchan as the 'angry young man'. It also epitomised the coming of age of a new trend where ageing villains like Pran went versatile and took up strong character roles to hold on to their territory.

The new version, produced by Amit, will see Telugu filmstar Ram Charan, son of actor-politician Chiranjeevi, stepping into Big B's shoes, while Priyanka Chopra will reprise the role of Jaya Bachchan.

"I had spoken to Pranji about 'Zanjeer' remake...He was happy about it. He gave us his blessings. He was happy that Sanjay Dutt was playing his part in the film. He was looking forward to see the film," Amit said.

The producer said he was in constant touch with Pran's family and kept him updated about the film and also checked upon his health.

The Dadasaheb Phalke awardee passed away at Lilavati Hospital in Bandra last night after a prolonged illness.

Expressing grief over the demise of the 93-year-old actor, Amit said, "It is a sad day for all of us. It is shocking. He was one of the finest actors we had in the industry.

Everyone Want Deepika Padukone In Their Next!

The leggy lass is in demand and spoilt for choice as three ace filmmakers are vying to cast her in their movies.

After the overwhelming success of blockbuster "Yeh Jawaani Hai Hai Deewani" ex-lovers Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone are set to reunite for director Intiaz Ali's next film.

If reports are to be believed, Imtiaz is said to have roped in Deepika Padukone as the female lead opposite Ranbir in his untitled project.

It is said that the "Rockstar" director was scouting for an apt heroine for the Kapoor lad and had even considered Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt. In the end, Ranbir and Deepika's fabulous on-screen chemistry in "YJHD" won over all other choices.

"They haven't put things on paper yet, but after YJHD, Imtiaz is sure about Deepika," a source revealed to Hindustan Times,

"What went in Deepika's favour is her chemistry with Ranbir in YJHD."

"Right now, none of them want to go on record, since a number of actors are vying for the part. But internally, the makers have decided on Deepika. Ranbir has also been sounded off about the same," the insider added.

The shooting of the film is expected to start from early 2014 since, "By that time, the hype over YJHD would be over," and "Imtiaz can start his film on a new note," said the source.

Meanwhile, luck seems to be on Deepika's side as she has been cast as the leading lady in the "Dostana" sequel, putting rest to the rumours of Katrina Kaif being signed for the same.

However, Dippy is said to be in a great dilemma since the Karan Johar film collides with Mani Ratnam's love story, for which she was approached recently. Also both the films are set to go on floors at same time of the year.

"Now, Deepika has to choose between Karan Johar and Mani Ratnam. It is going to be a difficult decision. As it is, she has other assignments," a source told The Times of India.
