Suraj Pancholi, who was arrested for abetting Jiah Khan’s suicide, is looking forward to some relief from the Bombay High Court today. Suraj was sent to jail on June 10, and on June 21, the son of actors Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab was denied bail by a lower court. Suraj’s lawyer had moved the HC and his bail application will be heard today.

Suraj Pancholi Confessed To Beating Up Jiah Khan, Say Cops

It’s been over a week since Jiah Khan committed suicide at her Juhu residence. What followed was a police investigation and some startling revelations. Jiah’s six-page suicide letter found at her home and her mother Rabiya Amin Khan’s statement reportedly claimed that Suraj Pancholi, who was dating Jiah, is responsible for the young actor’s suicide.

Media reports today suggest that Suraj has allegedly confessed that he had beaten up his girlfriend Jiah following a fight in Goa eight months ago, after which the Nishabd actor took the drastic step of attempting suicide by slitting her wrist. Juhu police investigating the case said, “Suraj has admitted to being in a live-in relationship with Jiah.” The police is contemplating adding an additional charge under Section 498-A (harassment of a woman by husband or in-laws) of IPC against Pancholi.

Police have also received the late 25-year-old’s medical report from a Juhu hospital where Jiah had undergone an abortion. “The doctor who conducted the abortion knew Jiah and her boyfriend Suraj. In fact, the abortion was conducted in the first two months of this year. We have recorded the doctor’s statement,” police reports say. Shedding more light on the case DCP Chhering Dorje said, “The pregnancy was not terminated through pills. We have sent summons to the doctor who performed the surgery, as well as to Jiah’s friends who knew about it.”

With each passing day and every new update in the suicide case, it looks like the legal trouble for the aspiring actor Suraj Pancholi is not going to end soon. The Mumbai court will issue its verdict on the lad today. Watch this space for more news.

Suraj Promised To Marry Jiah; Says Jiah In Suicide Notes

Yet another twist has knotted up Bollywood actor Jiah Khan's suicide case. On Monday night, hours after her boyfriend Suraj Pancholi was arrested for abetting her suicide, the Juhu police searched his house and discovered five love letters written by Jiah to him.

While producing Suraj in Andheri Metropolitan Court, the police asked for his custody to investigate and verify the contents of these letters. The court granted them his custody for two days till June 13, after the prosecution argued that his interrogation was necessary following the allegations of threat, assault and rape against him by the actor in the 6-page note discovered three days after her suicide.

In his statement to the police, Suraj has accepted that he had beaten up Jiah, who under pressure from him even aborted their child at a Juhu-based hospital. Jiah had spoken about her pregnancy to many of her friends, and now the police are going to question them as well.

The defence lawyer argued against Suraj's police custody, saying, `Why did the victim's mother bring the suicide note three days after the incident? Why was she mum when she came to know that Suraj was beating her daughter? My client is innocent. He has been framed.` But the court wasn't convinced.

Police sources said that 'I love you' has been mentioned several times in three of the letters recovered from Suraj's house, while the content of the other two is the same as that of the six-page note in which Jiah related her overwrought relationship that formed the basis of Suraj's arrest.

Probe broadens

According to the Juhu police, the handwriting on the 6-page note matches that on the five letters found with Suraj at first glance. `We have sent all the letters recovered from Suraj's house to handwriting experts to verify if they were penned by Jiah. On the basis of primary information, we will call all the people related to this issue.

We have met Jiah's family members personally to get more information. We will interrogate Suraj's servant Deva, who last visited her house with a bouquet sent by him, right before her death,` said Additional Commissioner of Police (West) Vishwas Nangre-Patil.

`We have recovered Jiah Khan's BlackBerry phone with the help of which we will come to know whom she had forwarded the message to in her last moments. To open her BlackBerry and WhatsApp messengers, we are taking help from IT experts because only she knew the password,` added Nangre-Patil.

Reliable sources from Juhu police station said Jiah's mother, Rabia had given a statement to police, stating that Suraj had promised to marry Jiah, but when she became pregnant, he started ignoring her, at the behest of his actor father, Aditya.

`In primary investigations, we did not find any role of Aditya Pancholi in this case. We are taking legal help to add section 498 (harassment) to the charges against Suraj to make the case watertight,` a police officer said, requesting anonymity.

Police are also probing which hospital the actor went to for the abortion, so they can record the statement of the doctor concerned.

Cops are awaiting the medical report to find out if the bruises on her face at the time she was found hanging were caused because someone had beaten her before her death. Suraj, son of actor couple Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, was arrested on Monday under IPC section 306 for abetting Jiah's suicide, a week after she hanged herself from the ceiling fan at her Juhu apartment on June 3.

Suraj Pancholi, who was arrested yesterday evening by the Mumbai police in the Jiah Khan suicide case, won’t be able to set himself free from the clutches of law, at least not until June 13. The shocking details of Jiah’s six-page suicide note allegedly addressed to Suraj prompted the police to detain him.

“A suicide note, statement of Rabiya Khan and some circumstantial evidence of triggering,” said Additional Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangre Patil. Rabiya has alleged that her daughter was driven to suicide due to a messy love affair. “The letter does not have a name, so who it is addressed to is something you can only ask Jiah. But because of the past incidents and what she told me, everything point towards Suraj Pancholi,” she said while talking to reporters yesterday.

In his defense, Suraj’s lawyer has argued that the letter does not name his client. Let’s see what comes out this time as the police will be questioning Suraj once again.

Ram Gopal Varma Pays Honor To Jiah Khan Through Short Film

The director Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has made a two-minute film on the late actor which shows her zest for life and her charming onscreen person...

Ram Gopal Varma is a man of few words. And so, when Bollywood expressed its grief in so many words, RGV chose to pay his tribute to Jiah Khan in a different way. The director, with whom Jiah made her Bollywood debut in Nishabh, has made a special two-minute short film on her.

The filmmaker chose not to attend the condolence meeting on Saturday, and instead he worked at cutting a video which he then presented to Jiah’s mother and sisters. The clip titled The Reel & the Reality of Jiah shows two scenes from Nishabd where Jiah is seen in her element, holding her own in front of the legend, Amitabh Bachchan, and expounding life’s philosophies. “Zindagi ko light leneka…,” she says and the movie fades to black, with RGV’s message that reads, ‘How I wish we all could have made her follow this philosophy in real life too.’

“I couldn’t bring myself to attend any memorial for Jiah. For me she will always be alive. I decided to put together this tribute. When I was looking at her in Nishabd again I was struck by how spontaneous she was onscreen… and not the least intimidated by Mr Bachchan! I can’t believe she is gone,” said Ramu.

Jiah Khan Suicide: Suraj Pancholi Detained By Cops!

Actress Jiah Khan's friend Suraj Pancholi has been detained by Mumbai police in connection with the 25-year-old's suicide. Suraj, son of actors Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, reportedly dated Jiah for nearly a year. He was the last person she spoke to on the phone on the night of June 3, police said, before hanging herself in her Mumbai home on June 3. 

Suraj and his father Aditya Pancholi were questioned by Mumbai police for three hours on June 4.

Jiah left no suicide note. However, a six-page letter addressed to an unnamed person has been found and handed over to the police by her family. 

In the letter, which appears to be written to a former or present boyfriend, Jiah says, "If you're reading this I might have already left or about to leave. I am broken inside."

Jiah talks about "kissing goodbye" her film career and claims that a promise of an engagement after a year of dating was broken. 

"Your life was about partying and women. Mine was you and my work. If I stay here I will crave you and miss you," says Jiah, accusing the boyfriend of cheating on her, in the poignant letter.

You destroyed My Life: Jiah Khan In Suicide Note

Mumbai police are likely to summon Sooraj Pancholi, son of actor Aditya Pancholi, for questioning on Monday after a six-page letter allegedly written by Jiah Khan was found during the course of the actress' suicide probe. Though the police are tightlipped about the content, news reports... 

The Indian Express quoted Jiah Khan as saying in the letter that she was ending her life because, "I have no reason to breathe anymore. All I wanted was love. I did everything for you. I was working for us. My future is destroyed. My happiness snatched away from me. You never appreciated my love. kicked me in my face. I have no confidence or self esteem left. Whatever talent, whatever ambition, you took it all away. You destroyed my life."

"All you want in life is partying, your women, your selfish motives. All I wanted was you and my happiness. You took both away from me. I spent selflessly on you."

"I have nothing left to live for in this world after this. I wish you had loved me like I love you. I leave this place with nothing but broken dreams and empty promises. All I want now is to go to sleep and never wake up again," said the letter.

The details of the letter however could not be independently verified by HT.

When contacted, Juhu police refused to divulge the details of the letter but said investigators are in the process of seeking legal opinion to ascertain if the contents of letter amount to abetment in the actor's suicide.

The police also said they are verifying the authenticity of the letter.

The family of the deceased actress handed over the notarized copy of the letter to the police on Saturday. The family notarized the letter, penned down in English, so that it could not be manipulated at a later stage.

Sources said that six-page letter, allegedly written by Khan, was recovered by the family from her bedroom. It has been said that the letter did not mention any names and was not addressed to anyone in particular.

Jiah Khan also has reportedly written about a party in Goa and a medical procedure she underwent during the relationship. While the family has kept the original copy with themselves a notarized copy will be given to the Juhu police for further probing.

Jiah Khan has not named anyone in the letter. It was also confirmed by the police that Jiah Khan, had attempted suicide earlier by slashing her wrist. But it was only after the medical procedure she underwent, that she took the drastic step.

Twenty five-year-old Jiah Khan had committed suicide by hanging herself at her Juhu residence on June 3.

The police will also send the letter for forensic analysis to confirm if it was written by the late actress. They also hope to ascertain the approximate date it was written on.

Officials have said that the letter may play a crucial role in the investigation as it has a mention of Khan's troubled relationship with Pancholi.

Shocked By Jiah Khan's Death, Boy Commits Suicide

JAIPUR: A 12-year-old boy in Sriganganagar district committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling of his house on Wednesday, apparently on hearing the news of the death of actor Jiah Khan, who died in Mumbai. 

According to police, the boy, Babu , a resident of Gurunanak Basti in Sriganganagar, woke up

on Tuesday morning and was watching television. Babu was a student of Class V in a private school. "He became depressed after watching the news of Jiah Khan's death. Later he brought some DVDs of Jiah Khan's movies and started watching them. In the afternoon, the boy confined himself to a room. He did not even lock the room and hanged from the ceiling fan," said a police officer on Wednesday. 

"He was found hanging from the ceiling and his television and DVD player were on. We have also recovered some DVDs of the film in which Jiah Khan had acted," said a police officer. 

"He was continuously watching the television news on the actor's death and even asked his mother why she committed suicide . His mother convinced him not to take it seriously. Later, when the mother was cooking lunch, the boy committed suicide," said officer Ramesh Chand.

Actoress Jiah Khan Commits Suicide At Mumbai

Bollywood actor Jiah Khan has allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence here, police said.

The 25-year old actor reportedly hanged herself at her Juhu residence late last night.

According to the police her maid, watchman and neighbours are being interrogated to find out her last visitors.

Jiah made her acting debut in the controversial Ram Gopal Varma's 'Nishabd' where she acted opposite Amitabh Bachchan.

Upon its release in March 2007, the film received mixed reviews, but Jiah was noted for her confidence, attitude, and sex appeal.

She also got a Filmfare Best Debutant Nomination.

She then appeared alongside Aamir Khan in A.R. Murugadoss's 'Ghajini', the Hindi remake of the director's own Tamil film of the same name.

Later she appeared as a supporting actress in Sajid Khan's multi starrer comedy film 'Housefull' (2010). This was her last film.

She was born Nafisa and changed her name to Jiah before going back to her birth name. Her mother is Rabiya Amin, an actress in the 1980s who was seen in the Tahir Hussain movie 'Dulha Bikta Hai'.

Jiah's mother and sister had gone out and she was alone at the house when the incident happened, police said.

"Jiah's mother and sister found her hanging when they returned at around 11 pm," police said, adding that Jiah used her own dupatta to hang herself.

Police said postmortem of the body will be conducted on Tuesday and they have registered a case of accidental death.

Police are yet to record the statement of the actress' mother as she is in shock.

On Twitter, colleagues reacted with shock and grief.

One of the first reactions was from her first co-star Amitabh Bachchan who tweeted: "T 1128 -WHAT ...!!! Jiah Khan ??? what has happened ? is this correct ? unbelievable !!!"

Bipasha Basu tweeted: "#Rip Jiah Khan!God bless her soul!"

Shahid Kapoor, with who Jiah had been cast in Chance Pe Dance before being replaced by Genelia D'Souza, tweeted: "Shocked n saddened to hear about jiah khan... Very disturbing... RIP... may her soul rest in peace."
