Ankita Lokhande, Aamna Shariff, Jennifer Winget: Will TV’s Top Ladies Make It Big in Bollywood?

Television has often been considered a stepping-stone for actors to enter Bollywood. Will the new generation of leading ladies make it to the big screen?

While we’ve seen the hunks of tellyland making a mark in B-town, the women have for the most part been left far behind. But that in no way means they can’t make it - after all, Vidya Balan started her career with a role in a TV show called Hum Paanch, right? And Prachi Desai was the lead in Kasamh Se before Rock On! happened to her, remember?

We have heard several stories about how at a recent event Shahrukh Khan spotted Ankita Lokhande and wanted her to be a part of his new movie directed by Farah Khan, Happy New Year. Then there is Pratyusha Banerjee, who claims to want to use the ticket to the Bigg Boss house to find better opportunities in Bollywood, while popular actor Jennifer Winget has also been trying to catch the attention of moviemakers to take a leap from daily soaps to films. But how many of them will make it?

Aamna Shariff

Ekta Kapoor put her on the map with the show Kahiin Toh Hoga, post which Aamna decided to take a break to give her movie career a chance. After three consecutive failures in Aloo Chaat, Aao Wish Karein and Shakal Pe Mat Ja, Aamna decided to return to TV. The actor is currently looking for work; clearly it hardly matters whether it is for TV or films now, does it!

Ankita Lokhande

What happened in Macau clearly worked wonders for Ankita Lokhande. It seems that at the IIFA concluding bash, Shahrukh spotted Ankita in the arms of her beau, Sushant Singh Rajput and requested his director Farah Khan to cast her in their film Happy New Year. This was indeed a big high for the Pavitra Rishta lady. However, if recent rumours are to be believed, Deepika Padukone has been signed on as the main lead opposite SRK. Nonetheless, popular belief is that Ankita still has a chance to be a part of the project as the second or third lead heroine.

Jennifer Winget

Mrs Karan Singh Grover has been trying her hand at film auditions for some time now, but none have worked out for her. Apparently Jennifer was also one of the names considered for Happy New Year opposite Shahrukh. Director-choreographer Farah Khan said that everything depended on the audition, which Jennifer is yet to give. The beautiful babe has been getting offers from producers for small budget movies.

Pratyusha Banerjee

Reality TV is the best medium for a star to find the limelight. And if a show is anything as controversial as Bigg Boss, even better. The delicate darling of the telly industry has been dropping hints about her dreams to do movies some day. She recently confessed in an interview that she hopes to use the opportunity of Bigg Boss as a platform to make an entry into movies. Will it work? That remains to be seen. Meanwhile, we hope that her stint on BB7 doesn't ruin her chances of stardom completely.

After Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi, Mona Singh hosted several shows, but Bollywood finally caught up with her when she played a pivotal role in Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots. Mona did a few more blink and miss roles, like in Utt Patang and Zila Ghaziabad, but is that the end of the filmi road for her? After 3 idiots, the actor waited for a long time for her next film, during which break she did another TV show, Kyaa Huaa Tera Vaada. We hope the actor gets better and more worthy roles in the future - we wouldn't want to see such amazing talent wasted, no?

The Fair and Lovely model has two popular TV shows to her credit, but her real dream was Bollywood, which came true with John Abraham’s Vicky Donor. The actor became a star overnight, even though the movie belonged almost entirely to Ayushmann Khuranna. Yami made her mark and producers began to line up outside her door with movie offers. Yami signed a project in the South and Hamara Bajaj in Bollywood. Let’s hope her lucky streak continues to take her further.

Jennifer Winget With Husband Karan Singh Grover

Jennifer Winget is a Indian television actress, model and anchor. She Gained popularity by playing the role of Dr. Riddhima Gupta,in tv show Dill Mill Gayye. She had played a lead role in the show Koi Dil Main Hai from Balaji Telefilms when she was seventeen year old. Jennifer got her first break with the popular serial Kasautii Zindagii Kay as Sneha, daughter of Prerna and Anurag Basu who is adopted by Mr. Bajaj, a role for which she is still remembered today. She was charactrized as a child artist in the show Shaka Laka Boom Boom. Jennifer winget also participated in the dance reality show Zara Nachke Dikha, where she was one of the participant of 'Meethi Chhuri Ladkiyan' team, and in the second season of this dance show she had been seen as one of the host alongwith Karan Singh Grover. Last year she got married to Karan singh Grover. Now, she is making her comeback with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's debut serial on star plus Saraswatichandra. She will be seen in the female lead as Kumud.

She had played a lead role in the show Koi Dil Main Hai from Balaji Telefilms when she was seventeen year old. Her debut serial was Shaka Laka Boom Boom in which she was appeared with Romit Raaj (host of Perfect Bride). She has also appeared on reality show Teen Ka Tadka and also participated in the dance reality show Zara Nachke Dikha, where she was one of the participant of 'Meethi Chhuri Ladkiyan' team.

Jennifer winget's family is originally from Yavatmal, Maharashtra. Jennifer's father is Marathi Christian and mother Punjabi. She completed her education from St. Xavier's High School, Bhandup & KJ Soumya College, Mumbai. She has one elder brother. And last year in april she got married to his co-star and longtime boyfriend Karan Singh Grover.

Jennifer also hosted reality shows such as Laughter Ke Phatke on STAR One and Zara Nachke Dikha with anchor RJ Mantra. Millions of hearts were broken when television industry's blue eyed boy Karan Singh Grover, decided to marry one of the most beautiful actresses of TV Jennifer Winget.

But looks like that the actor's relationship status from single to married doesn't seem to affect his female fan following as he still enjoys the lady killer tag.

When quizzed about his lady killer tag, Karan Says, "I haven't killed any women in my entire life (Laughs). I enjoy the lady killer tag but I am trying to hide it as I am a married man now. And my wife is the only one who can keep me straight."

Karan Singh Grover's substantial female fan following doesn't bother Jennifer Winget. "In fact, I feel very proud. Everyone wants him but I have him" she says, laughing!

But it couldn't happen as Jennifer has a big family and almost 99 people from her side attended the wedding. Also we were supposed to do a reality shows which had a theme of celebrities getting married and we were asked not to disclose about our marriage. But ultimately the show got scrapped."

The handsome hunk is currently enjoying his life post marriage to the fullest and says that marriage has changed his life in many ways, "I eat and sleep on time, the amount of alcohol consumption has gone down, social gathering has become limited and I get good homemade food. I am leading a very healthy and happy married life. I have learnt to report on shoots on time."

Ask him about how is Jennifer Winget as a wife and pat comes the reply, "She is a very responsible wife. She is younger than me but still manages to take good care of the entire house which was actually quite surprising for me" concludes Karan Singh Grover.
