I-T Raids AT Balaji Telefilms, Ekta Kapoor

Income Tax (IT) authorities on Tuesday morning began search operations on Balaji Telefilms, Ekta Kapoor, her father Jitendra and brother Tusshar following information of alleged tax evasion.

The search operations, considered to be major, involve around 100 IT officials and staff of

the investigation wing.

IT officials said that eight premises in Juhu, Andheri and Kandivali belonging to Balaji Telefilms and the Kapoor family are being covered in the search operations. Among these include their personal and Balaji Telefilms offices, their two bungalows and studio.

Officials said that the search operations were mainly on Balaji Telefilms and Ekta Kapoor, and others were covered because of their involvement with the company.

"We received information about inflated expenditure and some cash dealings following which the searches began," an IT official said requesting anonymity.

Officials said that by inflating expenditure, profit is suppressed that helps in evading tax.

"We are going through the documents and account details to verify the evasion and its quantum," the official added.

The IT teams were in the process of seizing documents, account books, hard discs and various bills during the operation.

Officials said that they would also cross verify with those groups or persons with whom the company or any of the Kapoor family members had financial dealings.

The search operations would go on till late night.

Ekta Kapoor is co-producer of movies Ek Thi Daayan, which released recently and Shootout At Wadala that is slated to release soon.

Ask him about how is Jennifer Winget as a wife and pat comes the reply, "She is a very responsible wife. She is younger than me but still manages to take good care of the entire house which was actually quite surprising for me" concludes Karan Singh Grover.
