Back in the '60s veteran actress Sharmila Tagore dared to wear a swimsuit on-camera for 'An Evening in Paris', and so started a trend that sees no end. She stirred things up a little more by following that up with a photo shoot for a magazine. She wore only a bikini.
Cut to 2013, her daughter Soha Ali Khan was also spotted wearing a blue bikini for her upcoming movie 'Mr Joe B Carvalho'. We're sure she didn't have to look too far to inspiration.
For an actress with a nine-year-old filmy career, this is the first time Soha's worn a bikini. Over a casual conversation, she reportedly let director Samir Tiwari know she'd like to wear a bikini from her own personal collection. She may not have strong acting chops, but styling sure seems like her forte.
When asked why she chose to wear a two-piece now, given how B-grade starlets think this is the only way to make a statement in Bollywood and make yourself known, the actress reportedly said that the 'need' didn't arise before. That is until a scene in 'Mr Joe B Carvalho' where she was asked to choose between a swimsuit and a bikini. No prizes for guessing for she chose.
While most well-fed (on publicity!) actresses these days put a lot into eating right and toning up before such a daring stint, Soha reportedly didn't think twice before 'diving' in to a bikini.
Like a true royal, indeed.
