A typical ‘Beauty with Brains’ is what best describes Pallavi Sharda. A beauty queen, an actress, a dancer, along with gifted brains- Pallavi Sharda is the next girl to check out for in the B-town. She made her debut as a supporting actress in Karan Johar’s ‘My Name is Khan’ and will soon be seen in ‘Besharam’ alongside Ranbir Kapoor.
Biography: Although born in Perth, Australia, Pallavi Sharda was brought up in Melbourne. Both her parents hold PhD degrees, which is why it was natural for her to be extremely intelligent and bright in her academics. Having obtained double promotion from 8th standard to the 10th standard in her school, Lowther Hall Anglican Grammar School, she completed her high school in just five years. After this, she pursued degrees in Media & Communications, Law and French from the University of Melbourne at age just 16.
It is a matter of great appreciation that despite being away from India, she took keen interest in Indian dance form ‘Bharatnatyam’. She started training in classical dance since she was three, and has trained for more than 15 years. The stunning beauty took part in various extra-curricular events in both school and college- from dance performances and choreography to drama productions and theatre- and has more than a hundred stage performances to her credit.
Pallavi shifted base to Mumbai in 2008 to pursue a dream career in the glamorous world of the Hindi film industry. In 2009, she shot for an American film ‘Walkaway’ in which she played the protagonist named Sia. Her comic timing was great in Indian theatre comedy ‘1888 Dial India’. She then struck gold by landing a small supporting role in Karan Johar’s 2010 film ‘My Name is Khan’.
Her first official debut in which she had a full-fledged role was ‘Dus Tola’ in 2010. As a village dance teacher named Geeta, she shared screen space with veteran actor Manoj Bajpayee, and even garnered critical acclaim for her performance. The year proved to be more rewarding for her, as she won the coveted Miss India Australia beauty pageant. Despite suffering a fatal fall and being wounded in the chin and right hand, she participated in the Miss India Worldwide contest in Durban, where she performed a classical dance. Pallavi won the ‘Fresh Look’ title and worked towards building better relations between Australian and Indian communities in her hometown.
Her Bollywood ventures continued with Sahil Sangha’s ‘Love Breakups Zindagi’ and Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Heroine’, where she played important roles. She was also a significant part of the international theatrical musical ‘Taj Express’ which was directed by Shruti Merchant and choreographed by renowned choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant.
The talented actress will make her debut in the Australian film industry with comedy film ‘Save Your Legs’. She has also been signed on to play the female lead in Abhinav Kashyap’s next flick ‘Besharam’ opposite Ranbir Kapoor. The girl is on quite a high, and hopes to break through into the industry with this film.
