Bollywood king want some relax after big bash of "Chennai Express". She keen like to go for a tension free holiday
This year, Shah Rukh Khan’s big Eid offering, Chennai Express has hit the bull’s eye. But at a time when filmmakers are constantly looking for a holiday weekend to release their films, 2014 has already been blocked by other big names. So, by the looks of it, SRK doesn’t have a clear big weekendnext year to come out with his next film, Happy New Year (HNY).
And although talks are rife that the Farah Khan directorial next will release on Diwali (Farah’s 2007 hit, Om Shanti Om starring Shah Rukh-Deepika & Padukone had released on Diwali as well), neither the director nor Shah Rukh have gone on record about it yet. “For that (deciding the release date), all of us, including Shah Rukh, need to sit together and decide. We might release the film on Diwali or even before that. But we haven’t decided yet,” says Farah.
Since HNY goes on the floors next month, it’s believed that it will be ready by mid-2014. And all the holiday weekends after that are taken. Salman Khan takes back his Eid slot with Kick. On Independence Day, Akshay Kumar’s Gabbar comes out along with Ajay Devgn’s Singham 2. The Dusshera and Diwali weekends have officially been taken by two Hrithik Roshan-starrers, Bang Bang and Shuddhi, respectively, while Christmas has been taken up by Ranbir Kapoor’s Bombay Velvet.
However, owing to the delay in Bang Bang’s shooting (shifted to November) due to Hrithik’s brain surgery, trade experts feel that Shuddhi might move freeing the Diwali weekend. “Diwali and Christmas weekends suit the film (HNY) perfectly. I asked him about this but Shah Rukh hasn’t taken a call on it,” says trade analyst Taran Adarsh. Till date, SRK has had many Diwali hits, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) and Don (2006).
