“Charlotte fought her cancer with grace and humanity, courage and dignity. Our hearts are heavy with the loss of our beautiful dear girl. We pray for her and that the cure for this wretched disease will be close at hand soon. We thank everyone for their heartfelt condolences,” the actor continued.
Charlotte was adopted by the Irish actor in 1986 when her biological father, Dermot Harris, died. Pierce married Charlotte’s mother, Cassandra Harris, in 1980 and they remained together until her death in 1991. He later married American journalist and author Keely Shaye Smith in 2001, and had two more children, but always remained close with Charlotte, Sean and Christopher, who he fathered during his marriage to Cassandra.
